Let's be fair

My convictions are all comes from my experiences of 33 three years of obsevation and attending severel major denominations. I have been stating my experiences over and over but my opposers keep come after me with the same questions and attacks of selfrighteousness, judgemental, unloving etc. etc. And my opposers are mostly the same ones.

When it is already explained why and what, you have to ask youselves what your true motivations are.

Let's be fair falks. There is intence spiritual battle is going on in the forums. Lets not try to keep your opposers mouth shut because you don't like the topic. God is the One who has to judge who is on His side. Everyone thinks they are right and opposers are wrong. Let's give everyone plivilege to speak for Him.

It becomes very nasty and hate-filled thread when you try to stop one's convictions.

It is so unchristian to try to stop the thread or focusing away from the topic.

Let's not attack the thread starters and start focusing on the topic.

We can always express our opinions and convictions but asking and repeating the same questions over and over because you dont like the answers is harrasment. We have to stop this kind of nasty debate.

I ask everyone's fairness to everyone and not just the ones you like.

Thank you

His servant, Hitomi

Hello gingercat:

I will offer the following thoughts:

1. These forums can be a place where people examine and re-work their ideas about the Christian faith. Of course, this requires that contributors are willing to change their positions on some matters. It seems that this rarely happens and this is indeed worrisome. If we really are interested in seeking the truth, surely one would see some people changing their minds.

2. A non-Christian visiting these forums would likely not be too impressed with the behaviour of many. An all too common pattern is as follows. Person A makes a post defending position X. Person B makes a polite and thoughtful counter-argument. Person A calls person B a godless reprobate (or something similar). This is supposed to be an environment for learning and growth?

3. I believe that these forums should allow for healthy competition in the "marketplace of ideas". As much as some people get a bang out of taking cheap shots, they should surely realize that, in the eyes of the serious seeker (who I suspect are often "lurking" and not posting), such behaviour only discredits the cause for which they advocate.

Thak you Drew for your input.

I am hoping to get to the lurkers. Of course we should respond to all questins but we should have respectable etiquette here. Like not harrasing with the same questions over and over. That's how things get so ugly. Many times I just wonder if some are truly hoping to ban the posters.

Maybe I should get this to the mods attention.

I don't know Christine, my topics are not so friendly from the beginning. they are all most of the things churchgoers avoid to talk about. I bring up something people avoid, if you know what I mean.

i read. i am quite often the one yelling "we need charity". i take frequent breaks because of the nastiness that comes out here.

and drew, there are two things that people are the least likely to ever move on. i dont know what the one it, but the other is religion and religous ideas. any movement is a great accomplishment. its also seed planting.

i also hate potshots that people take at one another. no matter who is doing it. its kinda ridiculous... but hey... its a war out here.

Gingercat, you're right in everything you say and I won't ever question anything you say.

There, problem solved.

You are right. There is a war going on,..spiritual war. So it can be very nasty if you don't like someone's opinion or practices. It is hard to believe this is a Christian forum. Yet when someone mentions the reality of this nastiness someone else tries to cast you out.

Who cares what a none believer thinks, if they are in denile anything we say and do will only be translated negative any ways.

Besides God changes men, not men.

So, who cares what they think, Care what GOD THINKS !

I think I am going to have to disagree. I think that a sober analysis of what goes on this forum suggests that people who claim to be Christians are often nasty, condescending, and sometimes just plain wacky. There have been things written in these forums that are simply too silly for words. I do think this reflects poorly on our Saviour and does have a negative impact on those non-believer who contribute and otherwise browse.

But it is reflecting our true selves. We shoud not pretend Christian community is pretty and wonderful. What do you expect when reality of most churchgoers are not committed Christians?

That's a false statement. There are a lot of non-Church goers who are not commited Christians also.
