Let's Talk Rabbi's...

Yeah, no kidding. Especially electrical cords.

But anyway, how did Jesus ever get considered a Rabbi. From a Jewish point of view he was an unschooled hooligan.
He spoke as one who was learned

What you said pretty much supports what I was hearing. Thanks Brother...
I second what JohnDB wrote.
Now, step back and look at who Jesus choose to be his disciples. None of them had "cut the grade" with prior Rabbi's, thus they were all working in their trade because no Rabbi would take them.
A student believed he could be like his Rabbi, and do the things his Rabbi did. Ever wonder why Peter got out of the boat? He saw his Rabbi doing it, and per custom, knew he could do the same.
John writes: 1 John 2:6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
Amazing huh?...

A student might be doing well in school but would have to quit due to financial issues.(not enough food in the house and dad can't provide enough because of age or trade skills ". Girls preferred to get married instead of learning book work. They learned cooking and housewifery of their fiance's family.

But the only Apostle that seemed to have enough money to have graduated school vx his education ability was John. Other than Paul and Barnabus no one else had much of an education.... Except also for Matthew. He was a highly educated Levite.

The rest of the Apostles seemed to be so very ordinary. Sure they wanted to be disciples... But all of them lacked the education and family reputation it took to become a rabbi.

What I find as an important side note are the clues to their personalities and predilections. Andrew was a reader, Peter loved fishing...maybe, Simon zealotes was scrappy, Phillip knew everyone, Thomas was rather pragmatic... John was a " Beach bum hippy" type person.

Exactly. Man, it feels good to talk to someone like yourself who understands this!
Jesus surrounded himself with sinners and drunkards and didn't look at the outward appearance of a person. If we could just learn that and teach others to do the same the world would radically change.

What do you think about this?
When Jesus is in Cesera Phillipi, he looks literally into the gates of hell and says, "Upon this rock, I will build my church". I take this to mean.. in part... that Jesus will build his church on the misfits... the outsiders that the "elite" had written off and looked down upon.

Luke 7:47 Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.

She "got it", just like Mathew "Got it". Or as the disciples said, "Where else shall we go?" (John 6)

Actually look at the last post in a thread entitled "Church Answer Game" by me...

You will find an answer about "The Gates of Hell/Hades". You might just enjoy. It takes a minute to explain it...but I think that you will like it.

Nm. I bumped it up so you can find it in this forum section
