I go to Liberty Online, and its been a huge blessing for me. When I tried to go back to a state school, age 23, they basically drove me mad and drove me out. Long story...ended in lots of electroshock :-(

Liberty is different. I mean, the material is good, and I like learning the material w/o a hardcore leftist bias. I mean, I'm liberal as Christians go, but...wow. At the (3rd tier) state school, I had one prof compare communion to canniablism, to "expand our horizons." More like...make shocking statements so she could look and feel superior. Glad I'm outta there (not wanted there anyway, apparently).

So, yeah...I'm doing a history major. I was thinking psychology, but...the more I think about it, and about my own experiences w/ mental health, the more I think...secular wisdom applied to what are often essentially spiritual issues ends in failure. Psychology might work for some Christians, but I don't think it could be a good job for me, seeing how most of the counselors and therapists I've seen have labeled me and set out to "teach me a lesson" (onoging issue right now, lol) for "being uppity." Ugh.

I praise God for the opportunity to go to Liberty and the intelligence needed to do well. I used to be obviously brain damaged and too far gone to do much of anything, and now...2 years into being Born Again...I'm smart enough for Liberty (its challenging, but I can do it) and...yeah. I don't know where God is going with my life, but He's seen fit to give me some raw material to move forward, and that's huge.

I like Liberty's Christian emphasis, and I appreciate their inclusive approach to education. In my state, all the public universities are trying to move up the rankings, so they're becoming more exclusive (read: they bring in affluent out of state students for $$$ and rankings). Liberty brings in people from all over, all walks of life, especially online. I think that's wonderful. I even get financial aid, and they were kind enough to accept a whole lot of credits from my old school.

I finally get to see what kind of raw material I'm working with, and how far I can go with it. Its so strange...when I was a whiny, immature late teen at that state school, I thought I was too cool for Christ. Truth is, all the "cool" people around me were laughing at me behind my back and I was mediocre at best. The school shrink--it was free to see her--helped fry my brain out on loads of Rx pills. And now...

...I go to Liberty, and I do well. Its challenging, in a good way. I'm closer to my parents. I appreciate Christ and His rules, commandments, teachings, etc. Basically, I'm changing into yet another Born Again Christian, a sinner saved by grace, and Liberty Online is a big part of that.

How do you change into a "Born again" Christian; in other words, are there Christians that aren't born of God? :)

LOL. Good point. I think of Born Again as opposed to some of the...I dunno...different Christian groups, like very liberal Episcopalians, increasing numbers of PCUSA-ers, etc.

I know I walk against the opinions of many on this, but our works have nothing to do with being born of God; that comes as the result of believing on the Lord Jesus as our Savior. I would assess your present manner of life changing as the result of growing in grace and knowledge of our Lord. It is God's continuing work in your life producing spirituality that glorifies Him. Brother CE, I believe all can see what is occurring in your life for good, and that's the result of God's increase. He has to do the same for all of us, and although different circumstances were experienced by each of us as God removed our old manner of life, it is a necessary ongoing work that will continue until we are in Christ's presence.
Blessings in christ Jesus. :)

I see 'born again' as the commencement of the new man when we accept our Lord Jesus as our Savior. We are to come as children to Him. Hence, the 'born again'.

What's really important is that we do accept our Lord Jesus, and place our focus on doing our Lord's work. I so agree with Brother Eugene on this!

Christ_empowered, our Lord has brought you quite the distance already from the former 'you'. Praises of thanksgiving are said for this!

Yeah, I'm just now getting to the point where I kinda sorta realize, at a certain level, that its all about God's work in my life, and my life glorifying God and hopefully blessing others, with my own issues towards the bottom of priorities. I'm gettin there...

I'm hoping the History major leads to good things. I'm doing well, so I think I could do one of Libery's M.Divinity programs for a bit less $$$ than a 2 year counseling degree at Liberty or elsewhere (the local place is private and I think for-profit, and kinda New Age-y). We'll see...

Our growth in our relationships with our Lord is a daily one, and this growth continues until the time we take our last breaths on this earth. This is an exciting prospect!

One step at a time, CE, one step at a time is the way God pulls us out of the dark place we find ourselves in. You've been given a lot of negative stuff to deal with, but you're becoming healthy again. Stick with God and grow stronger in His love. He will lead you home...sstep at a time.

All of us are very proud of the growth that you are doing! Keep moving forward, and committing all of your steps to God and He will show You His path.
Blessings!
