Hi DRSHello Kathi. Hades and the Lake of fire are two different places. Hades in Greek is 'the grave' or the 'abode of the dead'.
That is only what I see in Scripture. This is taking Scripture literally.I think Scripture is intended to be taken literally when possible.God did not want us to guess what His word is.This is Revelation 20:8: And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog, and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
As you wish.

Hi DRSyes,Hades is the place that the unbelievers soul go to now when they die. This is a waiting place for them before they are resurrected and sent to the Great White Throne judgment at the end of the Millenium.Hell and the Lake of fire are the same place. When the unbelievers are judged they will be thrown into the lake of fire/hell.
When a person is cremated or dies at sea their souls immediately go to hades if they are an unbeliever or their soul goes to heaven if they are a believer. But their bodies will be resurrected to heaven in the future if they are a believer or to the Great White Throne judgment if they are not a believer. It does not matter if they were cremated or eaten up by the fish long ago.God can make anything happen.and the sea gave up the dead in it, and death as well. how exactly does death have souls?
Hell is a going to be a real place.I am not using it in an inappropriate way. Why?does the word hell bother you?You need to stop using the word hell, it be confusing you homegirl.

The Hebrew Scripture for the place of the dead is Shoel. The NT name for the place of the dead is hades.I think they are the same waiting place for the unbelievers.Instead of hell, the proper word is the Lake of Fire or Gehenna.
The Hebrew Scripture for the place of the dead is Shoel. The NT name for the place of the dead is hades.I think they are the same waiting place for the unbelievers.
Gehenna in the NT is used for hell. But the Bible says the world hell many times. It is not a bad word.Unless you make it so.The only thing that is bad about it is if you think you will go there.
hades isn't the greek word the grave. its a place where the souls of both good and bad go to be judged by a three member council based on their deeds.
Show me Scripture for that.Hell is ok I guess. Sheol and Hades isn't a waiting place. These words are translated into the word (grave). They are without consciousness in the grave.
Who is the three member council?hades isn't the greek word the grave. its a place where the souls of both good and bad go to be judged by a three member council based on their deeds. I suggest that you read the epics on what the greeks of that day believed then also read up what the bible says hades and sheol are. sheol is what is being talked about in revalation and in luke. sheol is cast into gehenna. often the Christians then took a word and redefined it. ie agape. I asked a fluent speaker of koine greek of this subject she said that if I wanted to know what hades was , simply read the epics. I have a basic understand of that. I also am well versed on sheol. its similar to what hades is. both have levels and both have the lowest level of fire and there is reserved for the worst people. both in some versions have a place for the good( sheol according to some has a place where the tzaddik have a level and other versions of it don't and those tzaddik go to gan eden)
Show me Scripture for that.
No dictionary.....That Scripture referrence does not look like it came from the Bible. You don't have me convinced......sorry no cigar.

It still is not Scripture verses saying that Sheol/Hades is not the waiting place. That's a Greek online dictionary Kathi. The OT is written in Hebrew, the NT is written in Greek. Sheol is Hebrew, Hades is Greek.

Revelation 20:14 14 Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.[a]What exactly are you picturing in your mind as the "waiting place". Is this a term that you had created yourself.
Revelation 20:14 14 Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.[a]
This shows that Hades and hell are two different places.
Revelation 20:13-15 13 The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works.
That is all I will debate on this thread. We will have to agree to disagree. All I can show you is Scripture.
Have a nice day and God Bless...Hi Kathi. I'm not sure what you disagree with. You disagree that the Bible was written in Hebrew and Greek? I'm not sure I understand. I'm having trouble finding the term (waiting place) in the Bible and in Greek and Hebrew dictionaries. The Bible does mention the word Hades, and since the NT was written in Greek the Greek translation for Hades is (the grave). If you're waiting for something you have to be aware and conscious of what you're waiting for. Scripture tells us that the dead are without conscious and know nothing Eccl 9:5.
