[__ Prayer __] Life seems in a rut at the moment

Hey all,

I don't want to bore you all with a long story, but my life seems to be in a bit of a rut at the moment. I've been unemployed for quite a long time, and I seem to spend my days just sitting around the house doing nothing. The future seems quite bleak from my point of view.

I was just wondering if some of you would pray for me, and help me get out of this rut and see a more positive view of life. Because of my current circumstances I've been a little down lately. I know Jesus has a plan for me and my life, but sometimes I lose sight of this.

Thanks anyway for listening.

Dear Martin.

I understand and empathize. I've been there too.

PLEASE - Don't get too discouraged AND find a way LIKE POSTING WHAT YOU'RE LED TO HERE (which can help others) to make the best of it.

It's REALLY hard for some people to just sit around. Doing routine housework and other things around the house gets old too doesn't it :) ?

Still others need to be a part of something bigger than themselves. A job that has meaning.

Well, let me clarify on that a little.....We're to do whatever work as if - and because in one way or another we are - we're doing it for God.

Maybe God has SOMETHING - like posting here with things you're led to by the Holy Spirit - He wants you to do in your downtime. Have you been reading your Bible? Helping at Church (I know it can be hard to face folks though when you're unemployed)?

Bottom line, God will do SOMETHING with it. Pray and ask Him if there's a purpose He has in the unemployment, EARNESTLY want to fulfill it, and ask that He'd reveal whatever it is to you so that you can do His will.

Then, take a leap of Faith in whatever you're led to trusting in God to be in control of it. And...
Good luck Martin!

I'll pray for ya!

Your Brother in Christ,

Jim

Hey Martin,

I can understand what it feels like to be in a rut. I've been there myself for some time now. Was diagnosed with a rare disease and with my continued health problems I'm unable to get out of the house because the amount of pain and the difficulty it causes me. During those times I've been without income for most of it, had a brief respite but again I've got nothing and cannot work at all. But I found one cure for some of this.

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy--meditate on these things.
Philippians 4:8

Find the good things, the pure, the things that are worthy of praise. There is always something, even if it is small. Thank God for your health, family, even just a beautiful day. It lifts the spirit, restores hope and gives you and amount of strength to push on toward the goal, whatever that be in your life.

I'll be praying for you.

Martin,

I am praying for you today. I know that God will answer your prayer, and I know that He led you to ask for prayer.

I was just wondering if there is something you can do throughout the days that may lift you? Some project? Things like starting a free blog to spread the word, or pulling out some garden pots and planting a few veggies. I know it doesn't solve the problems, but it will help you be productive and set your mind on our Creator more perhaps.

Anyway, that may be a lame suggestion to you, and forgive me if it is, because I know that only the Lord can help us in these situations. Again, my prayers. The Lord bless you.

Hello all,

Firstly, I thank you sincerely for all your prayers and thoughts, it really means a lot that you took the time for me.

Timothy, the reason I don't have anything to do during the day is unemployment - the current recession makes getting a job rather hard, but that's nothing compared to your health problems. I'm sorry have difficulty in getting around, you'll be in my thoughts.

Jim, your words are very kind and understanding. For that I thank you. Knowing you've been where I am gives me hope. Thank you.

Lovely, your ideas, especially about the blog, struck a chord with me. I'm a web developer and have many times thought about creating a social networking site (like Facebook for example), exclusively for young Christians. Perhaps I'll start looking into this in my free time.

You guys are great.

Martin,

I am glad it resonated. I almost didn't suggest it, hence my apology at the end, because sometimes suggestions can seem trite when you are in a rut and I didn't want it to come off that way. Just praying is usually the best response.

I didn't realize I was repsonding to a web developer!!! God knew it, though. Anway, I used 'free blog', because that's about all I could handle, but I never dreamed that 'some project' could be a 'social networking site'. LOL! That's a ministry, Martin! The Lord bless you.
