Long cut and paste jobs

Nobody reads that stuff. Stick with the Cliff's Notes version if you want people to read it.

Ditto. I never read them. Selectively quote and actually say something whereby point is emphasized by the quote.

They are also against forum rules and cause problems with site matainence for logan. Don't do it.

:-D Have a glass of wine... on me.

Yes, that and the insane way some quote. :o

I don't mind long posts when there is something to them, but when it is a one on one on going debate...I may skip it depending on the topic. I tend not to post unless I read the whole thread, unless I state otherwise. In apologetics it is harder to keep it short sometimes, but the quotes on those longer ones could be trimmed down, imo.

I am usually long winded, so maybe that is why I am more sympathetic. :-D This one happens to be less than a hundred words! 8-) I think.(?) :o The Lord bless all of you.

I think if there is a such thing as adult A.D.D., then I would be a classic case.
I have to compartmentalize anything really long or I feel overwhelmed and lose focus.

So, forget anything really long and drawn out! I don't think i've ever read a really long cut and paste job on this forum.

You're missing the point, as most seem to. If you're actually saying something (i.e. you are using those nifty fingers of yours to type, SELECTIVELY QUOTE SMALL AMOUNTS OF MATERIAL, and move on with AN ACTUAL POINT), then there's no problem....

It's the annoying ones who post 3 or 4 pages of junk they cut/pasted from some other website, and then they are also usually kind enough to crank up the font size and/or use all caps to make it even more annoying.

Short version: Make a point, use a short quote to back it up (provide link if there's a long portion you want interested parties to refer to), and move on.

Some seem to feel that the quantity of the text in their post somehow makes them seem more "right" than the other person they're discussing with. Not really :)

I thought I was agreeing with the point, but still sympathetic to a degree to longer cut, and paste, jobs when truly needed. Perhaps I was unclear, sorry about that. I think there are some times, especially in apologetics, when longer posts, that may contain more cut, and pastes, may be appropriate...it just depends on the pattern of the person posting, and the context. Most of the time, I agree, they could do a little less quoting of others. The Lord bless you.

Lengthy post also break the TOS on the board Rule #9

9 - Please keep posts down to a respectable length and provide source and/or links for your info. We want to respect copyrighted material. Plus, you stand a better chance of getting your post read if it contains a link with an excerpt from source that's relative to your point.

Sometimes someone has alot they must say we can all understand, but they can take the time to post one and then post another, and have the same meaning..
