ESV Ro 12:

1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.

Recovery Version

I exhort you therefore, brothers, through the compassions of God to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable service.

But then, the same word was translated differently by Recovery Version in 1P 2:

2 As newborn babes, long for the guileless milk of the word in order that by it you may grow unto salvation.

ESV:

Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation.

BDAG:

1 Pt 2:2 is to be taken in a related way pure spiritual milk; it is to be borne in mind that λ. means spiritual not only in the sense of πνευματικός, but also in contrast to ‘literal’, w. the mng. ‘metaphorical’

ESV is more consistent in translating this verse than the Recovery Version.

Witness Lee wrote:

This version, frequently guided by other versions, attempts to provide the best utterance for the revelation in the divine Word, that it may be expressed in the English language with the greatest accuracy.

I doubt that the Recovery Version gives the greatest accuracy of the original Greek meaning on 1P 2:2.

I noticed that you use Watchman Lee's Recovery Bible that he wrote as a revision to the Bible. The Living Stream Ministry that was founded by Watchman Lee in 1965 teaches heresies that come against the true word of God.

Here are a few samples of the heresies he taught:

"We have seen that to reach the unbelievers, no preaching is necessary. If we help them say "O Lord" three times, they will be saved. If they open the window, the air will get in. All they have to do is to open their mouths and say, "O Lord, O Lord." Even if they have no intention of believing, still they will be caught! Regardless of whether they have the intention or not, as long as they open the window, the air will get in. It is not a matter of teaching; it is a matter of touching the seven Spirits of God." Witness Lee, Stream Magazine, Vlll: l, Feb l, 1970, 6.
(Matthew 28:18-20)

"Then the fourth thing that we must see in order to participate is life! We all must know life. Revelation is a book of life. Do not pay attention to the forms, the regulations, the teachings, the doctrines, Christianity and religion. No, we must pay our full attention to life."

We do not need the Bible study classes; we need the weeping classes to weep for the spiritual poverty and deadness. We must listen to the Spirit--not just read what is written. We must listen to the present, instant speaking of the living Spirit.

Watchman Lee might have had a form of Godliness, but denied the power there of, 2Timothy 3:5.

Let's take a look at what Jesus said about adding to or taking away from the word of God:

Rev 22:18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
Rev 22:19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
