Lot - God's Only Courageous Preacher?
In the story of Sodom and Gomorrah Lot was the only person mentioned as righteous. Lot proved that he was worthy of this distinction by his actions fending off the hostile crowd that was gathered at this door to demand to have sex with the two visitors inside.
Lot tried to appease the crowd by bringing out his two daughters. But the crowd, being homosexuals, refused that offer. What is interesting is that Lot offered his two daughters to the homosexual crowd in accordance to God's righteousness, and not his own.
If Lot wanted to diffuse the situation he would have brought out two of his sons instead. But Lot showed that he was worthy of the distinction of being righteous by bringing out his two daughters in order to show the homosexual crowd that God's righteousness supersedes their own and does not permit homosexuality, nor does God's righteousness condone the sinful act of homosexuality.
Lot had the courage to uphold God's righteousness rather than appease the corrupt sinful righteousness of the gathering crowd by refusing to offer his sons to the sinful homosexual crowd. In today's world there are few preachers who would do as Lot had done and instead would have brought out their own sons to the homosexual crowd.
Lot protected his two visitors inside his house with God's holy righteousness. Lot did not protect the visitors with the hostile crowd's own corrupt righteousness! Will any preacher today uphold God's righteousness and refuse to condone the sinful act of homosexuality, and/or refuse to marry homosexuals?
Sadly, today's churches have flung wide open their doors to let the homosexual crowd in to do as they will with God's faithful! What we are seeing in our churches today is what would have happened if Lot gleefully opened his doors to let the crowd 'cajole' the two visitors into accepting, and participating in, their homosexuality.
Believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ who is God become man. For Jesus Christ was brought out by the Roman and Temple authorities to quell an angry sinful crowd gathered outside the door of the Temple, and subsequently died for all of mankind's sins on the cross. Rest assured that a belief in Jesus Christ will lead to eternal life with God the Father, God the Son Jesus Christ, and God the Holy Spirit in heaven forever!
God Bless
