Lucid Dreaming, And The False "Teacher"
Ever wondered about lucid dreaming, and whether Christians should be engaging in it or not? I was once a member of another Christian forum, and when I joined I created a thread on dreams and interpretation to acquaint myself with the membership there. There were several who seemed to have aptitude for it, and were posting dreams that appeared to be from the Lord, so I was excited to join and get to know them better.
That thread eventually branched out to over 60 pages in the succeeding months, as many engaged with me on the topic of dream interpretation. But sadly the Charismatic members of that community slowly began dying away over the next year or so for various reasons, and after a couple of years the forum was different. Many of the Charismatics were replaced with people who preferred simply engaging in political and theological debate, and eventually the forum was invaded by Gnostics who not only taught rank heresy but were making a mockery of the "gifts" by suggesting people substitute in demonic equivalents for the real things.
In the case of dreams, one of them started a thread specifically on that topic, only he immediately began posting an endless stream of lucid dreams he had become expert at. Lucid dreaming is nothing more than forcing the mind to remain conscious so that the dreamer can manipulate his dreams in whatever direction he wants to. It bears absolutely ZERO in common with Spirit-filled, Spirit-led dreaming, because in order for Him to communicate prophetic messages to the dreamer, the Spirit of God Himself must ultimately be the One controlling the dream and where it goes.
His thread on dreams also branched out into many pages, but it was many pages of endless "dreams" about how wonderful he was, and how great his circumstances were. He rarely did interpretations for others, and his own dreams were already self-explanatory, so it was mostly just a running narrative of his fantasy life.
This was the subject matter of the following dream, sent to me by a friend recently.
I am at the music store and the guitar teacher comes in and tells me that he can't teach guitar today. He tells me that a substitute teacher will come teach instead. He then added that he has had medical treatment but does not remember what the treatment was for. I think that's strange until the teacher turns to walk away and I see a shaved area on the back of his head, and I think, "Oh, it was a brain surgery. That's why he has no memory!" As the teacher goes out the door a very tall husky man tries to ask him a question, but the teacher completely ignores him like he's not even there. I then tell the tall man about the teacher's problems.
The "music store" was this forum I was involved in, and this is exactly what the man in question was doing through lucid dreaming; essentially "erasing" the content of his dreams and replacing it with his own thoughts and will, thereafter having "no memory" of what the real content might have been.
The analogy is fitting, because in prophetic terms, lucid dreaming is like getting a spiritual lobotomy. The part of your brain the Lord would communicate to has gone through an operation, and now you're no longer capable of hearing Him. As the dream suggested, this man was not even capable of hearing anyone else anymore either, he was so off in his own world, but it was because the enemy had so badly deluded him that he thought there was value in exerting his own self-will into everything. It epitomizes why some people are called "dreamers" in the not-so-flattering sense of the word (Jude 1:8). Due to a deception, he was only kidding himself, not just with regard to the content of his "dreams" but his value as a "teacher" to others as well.
At its highest levels, lucid dreaming is actually a form of occultism that involves Thelema, or the force of will applied in the use of magick. And in keeping with this I was under the suspicion for well more than a year that I knew who this man was, and that he was indeed an occultist himself now operating under an alias. If I am correct, He was previously expelled from that forum for promoting his own religion, a Gnostic form of "Christianity" that promoted astral projection, tarot card reading, doing full-blown astrological charts on people, and possibly other occult practices he may not have felt fully comfortable with publicly acknowledging. This same man was originally using a pentagram as part of his "Christian" ministry logo and subscribed heavily to Monism, which is an occult-oriented theology.
Whatever the case, the moral of the story is this: Do not let the Devil delude you into training your mind to practice lucid dreaming. As the dream implies, you won't even remember what you had your operation for. All you may end up knowing is that you have a lot to "teach" about dreams, only your teachings will center on the occult techniques for mastering dream control, in keeping with the systems of magick taught by Aliester Crowley, the premier Satanist of the 20th century. Aside from this, you won't actually be teaching anyone much of anything, including yourself.
