Luke 1:61-63
KJV 61 And they said unto her, There is none of thy kindred that is called by this name. 62 And they made signs to his father, how he would have him called. 63 And he asked for a writing table, and wrote, saying, His name is John. And they marvelled all.

61 Then they said to her, “None of your relatives has that name.” 62 So they motioned to his father to find out what he wanted him to be called. 63 He asked for a writing tablet and wrote:
HIS NAME IS JOHN.
And they were all amazed.

61 Often time children were named after members of their families unless they experienced something different or God told them. To name someone after family, showed a respect for those who came before you and brought you to be.
62 The father had the final say for the child’s name. They were hoping that he would give him a family name.
63 He could not speak because of his lack of faith and was reminded by not speaking but the angel told him the baby’s name would be John. He name was John there would be no more discussion after the father named him.
