These are my thoughts, please share yours.

27 Tax collectors were valued less than the Gentiles as far as the Jewish people were concerned but Jesus showed him love and acceptance we are to accept people this does not mean were accept their sin. Jesus went to where he was to find him often times to reach the lost we are not going to effect by staying in the church house.

28 Levi also known as Matthew gave the same dedication as everyone else did if not more, the others could go back to being fishermen but their was not turning back for him and some of have to change our entire lives when we come to the Lord to remove sin.

I see your ideas as being very solid. I know because I grew up rougher than a cactus limb and though a number of bad boy loving women sought to affect a change in me, none ever did. But, like Matthew, Jesus did not begin by wanting to change me, no, He accepted me, warts and all, making it, suddenly, possible for me to change, under His direction, and to approach the Throne that had always been the seat of my chosen enemy without fear.

I really do like this passage. Matthew was absolutely lower than the reputed Snake Manure my hero could fly a helicopter under, and that is really down to earth. God is ttuly awesom.
