here are some lyrics to a song I wrote. I would be really interested to hear some opinions so please read this.
"Ode to a Town"
Once there was a place, a great and mighty town
Their selfishness and greed drove them to the ground
Eternal treasure is what they couldn't see
I'll just tell you what they told me
The crowd screams:
"Let loose the dogs of war
We want violence we want gore
Let us feast let us gorge
We want more (Give us more!)
We want gossip and fresh lies
Or anything to catch our eyes
We want triple super size
But we want it now so buy, buy, buy!"
Chorus
Nothing will quench their thirst for consumption
So they buy their way right into destruction
"Just charge it" is their battle cry
They make 6 easy payments of $19.95
The crowd screams:
"Lies, deceit, and heresy
Slander and hypocrisy
These things are the air we breathe
So let us breathe (Make us breathe!)
These high walls our sin has built
Act as a callus for the guilt
But with credit card pulled from its hilt
We'll buy our way right through this filth"
(Repeat chorus)
The cycle continued and they were faithful to buy
But they still weren't happy and they didn't know why
The people trusted worldly things that come and go so fast
Instead of trusting Jesus Christ the only thing that lasts
Last Chorus
Nothing did quench their thirst for consumption
So they bought their way right into destruction
When all their stuff was killed by moth and by rust
They sat there dumbfounded with nothing left but dust
comments? suggestions? ideas?
