Many things have changed since 2000

I sure have seen many changes in the last 60 years. Some good, some not so good. I told my husband back in 2000 I would never buy a computer. I had no need or purpose for one until we went to visit his mother and I fooled around with hers and got hooked. I'm pretty much old school, but we have come a long way baby.

I bought my first computer back in the late 80's (I'm a CAD nut. I have four different drawing programs on my computer).................... But I still prefer hard-copy books to e-books.

When my kids were going to school their teachers told them that they wanted their papers to be done on a computer.I had no choice. It was either they spend hours in the computer lab at school or get a computer.

With all the technology that is out there leads me to believe people just forgot how to use their own brains. Ask a cashier today to make change without the computerized cash register and you will find most can not do that. I still can't believe a calculator is required in school on an elementary level to even learn how to add and subtract. The mind is a terrible thing to waste and kids now a days have no imaginations like we did when we were kids back in the day. "Hey kids, go outside and play.............oops..............they do not know how to.

so we should use the slide rule then? when it comes to small things yes I see your point but if its say cads? let the computer do that. a mistake can be a big one. doesn't mean that the days prior to cads wasn't a dark age.

That is so true.People use the computer for their brains.People are so dependent on the computer that everything shuts down if the computer goes down.I was at a bank one day and the computer had shut down. They were clueless.

they are supposed memorize your account and balance? and have manual ledgers? but not charge YOU for that extra work?

I have most of my accounts memorized, I use memory with the aid of the machine daily at work. but I have read an entire route and missed three homes as they were locked and I couldn't enter to get the read by simply handwriting reads. I used to do parts of routes that way the day before.

I could post arials of my routes all that I have done and show where the meters are. the machine says water meter, left, right. right of drive. north or south etc. the electric in the same. it doesn't say to the precise position where it is.
