Yes, we all know of Mariah Carey. The extremely talented woman who sings in an amazing 5 octaves. Anyway, amid her radio singles which are mainly about love and breakups, on her albums, there are some strong and empowering messages about God. For example:

Can't Take That Away (Mariah's Theme)
Hero (not directly referencing God, but is very true about God too)
Through The Rain (this is similar to Hero)
Fly Like A Bird (directly referencing God, definitely an uplifting message)

Anyway, most of these were released as radio singles. What do you all think of Mariah's inspirational-themed and gospel songs. I love Mariah's voice and I think she did a beautiful job with them all.
 
Great, people should sing about God, even if the record has a secular tint. But todays Gosple can sound like R&B Rock, Jazz, Fusion, and on and on.
 
I'm pretty sure she does have Christian values. I think her inspirational songs are actually the songs she feels the most. Oh, and the pastor that talks at the beginning of 'Fly Like A Bird' is actually her pastor.

While her voice sounds great on record, her sexual image fails her.

Oh, and I almost forgot: There was her 1998 duet with Whitney Houston called 'When You Believe' - which was also a spiritually uplifting song. Not that Whitney Houston is a great example for Christians to follow these days LOL.

I agree. Her music is amazing (to me anyway. Her voice gives me chills), but her sexual image really fails her. But I don't like to judge her, or anyone for that matter. Not to say she doesnt have Christian values, but the way she dresses is not meant for Christians IMO

I did some research on her and so other and its amazing to find out the spiritural back ground on these secular artist, even some of the Gospel artist. sometime you may hear someone mention god in there song but do you know who god there are talking about. Be very wish in what you accept to be God so that at the end of the day you do not regret the choice you made.

Yes Whitney fell' I know I have many times. But right now she is back on track. She come from a family of Christians. And she is a Christian. Her aunt Dionne Warwick, believes in psychics. So you know she is not Christian unless she has changed. But Whitney had a drug problem' and I understand that. AA and NA' has a saying. And that is' that the only people that can understand the alcoholic and drug addict' is another alcoholic and drug addict. Or in the Kingdom of Christ' a former one. Because the Bible says that' If a any man be in Christ he is a new creature. Old things are passed away. And behold all things become new. And when Whitney fell' I did not look down on her' because I understood her. And I could feel her pain.

Because someone's family is a christian dose not mean that they are christans to, especially miss Whitney Houston. Yes she is religious but have anyone ever ask what religion is she apart of? Try finding out you'll be amazed. Hey it would be nice is she and all the others could get saved but sadly there are not.

I agree with what is said here; we need to practice some discernment so we are not deceived or misled. I do have one request; can anyone find proof of this? I cannot, unless I am doing something wrong as I search.

I was a big fan of hers from the beginning and up to when she did her MTV: Unplugged. Something changed after that though. It was her musical direction and her sense of fashion. I just can't relate to it much anymore.

I'm not sure if she actually had a full, five octave range. I say that because she did a cover of Badfinger's "Without You". Heart also did a cover of that many years ago. Ann Wilson had a four octave range at the time, yet Mariah recorded her version in a lower key than Heart. Hmm... 8-)

If there is one secular artist I would listen to, taking into account talent and Faith, it would be Shakira.

Oh, I'm probably going to get beat down for that. :lol:

LOL, Ian, man, I love ya but what does that first post have to do with Mariah?

Also, I did do the Mariah Carey search and found nothing to confirm her involvement with voodoo. All I ask for is some proof, that's all. 8-) If someone is going to accuse another of something like that, they should be able to substantiate their claims.

Good question: as others said they'd searched on Mariah, I felt a general search on celebrities talk @ God would illustrate points others had made

The Who's Who & fanzine searches were to encourage folk maybe called by God to witness to either certain celebs of to their fans
