Martial artist here?

I've been doing martial arts for most of my life. It started when I was a kid doing tae kwon do. I think just about every kid did tae kwon do at one time or another. That lasted three years then at age 17 I 'converted' to karate, specifically American Goju karate. I've been doing that for over 17yrs now.
I started judo last year and after eight months I decided to compete. I should have listened to what I knew, I wasn't ready, and I ended up tearing my acl. I had surgery last july and I'm about 80% now. I'm not planning on going back to judo, but I still have my karate.

Any other martial artists on board? :nod

Ive taken Shotokan (sp) for about 4 years though im just a blue belt. i was never much for testing i just wanted the experience. my dad was a boxer in his younger years and taught me to box when i was about 8-10. i would like to start going back. possibly to mui tai or a mixed martial arts gym. i still cant feel pain in my shins from blocking kicks with them :lol its been about 10 years, im 25 now so about 15 or so is when i stopped.

Seems the most popular these days are muay thai, brazillian jujitsu(bjj), and mixed martial arts.

There are many styles out there, but good training makes the difference in my opinion. Good training can be found in many styles.

Welcome aboard Jason! Please introduce yourself, martially.

Ever heard about goju? Seen it etc..?

I'd like to know more about aikido than what I've seen of steven Segal. :D

Sorry, Brian and others I was discusing with you kata on another thread. I have done primarily Aikido,Shotokan, and some BJJ, and others. I've been doing ma since 1987 with some breaks. I'll post on aikido here, but there's a link to my headquarters

www.karlgeis.com

if that doesn't work let me know, as i know of other dojos with websites. The style of aikido is fugakakai( house of higher learning).
