I'll bet I could invent a whole new denomination here! Every Sunday School class would start off with a math lesson and...
  • Your position in the church would be dependent on passing grades in higher and higher levels of math as you got older.
  • Our Catechism would include memorization of Chapter 3, verse 14 of every book in the Bible; a complete study of Kepler's "Music of the Spheres" theory, and an explanation of how the number 3 is basic to your faith (you know, the trinity and all that PI stuff!)
  • We'd set aside one day a year to compare and contrast the concept of the limit and it's relation to Jesus' "70 times 7" forgiveness teaching.
  • And other cool stuff...

314, 5 and also other numbers associated with Name of God in Judaism.

I need a name for my new denomination. Kepler's Kult? The Calculus of the Saints?

Oh, wait, since 10% of the church does 90% of the work, I'VE GOT IT!
Deciles
The 10th and 90th percentiles of a set of data
.

We will be called Deciles ! My congregation here in Cumming will be "The Deciles Church of Cumming" - where the 10% tithe is mathematical church law!

There are several definitions of "decile" depending on application, but it always involves breaking up a dataset into sets of 10 percent each.

"Between 1998 and 2000, the distributed computing project PiHex used Bellard's formula (a modification of the BBP algorithm) to compute the quadrillionth (10^15th) bit of p, which turned out to be 0" - Wiki.

Infinite God - almost Infinite Number - yup, this denomination is where it's at!
