matthew 12 -(36)

That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment

Contex, contex and contex.
any verse taken out of context is meaningless.

This verse does not , repeat does not say that we will be judged upon every iddle word we have said.
Read the contex:-
22 Then they brought him a demon-possessed man who was blind and mute, and Jesus healed him, so that he could both talk and see. 23 All the people were astonished and said, “Could this be the Son of David?”

24 But when the Pharisees heard this, they said, “It is only by Beelzebul, the prince of demons, that this fellow drives out demons.”

25 Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand. 26 If Satan drives out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then can his kingdom stand? 27 And if I drive out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your people drive them out? So then, they will be your judges. 28 But if it is by the Spirit of God that I drive out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.

It is those who do not acknowledge Jesus as Lord who will have to answer for every idle word, every action, every thought that does not glorfiy God.

A tree is known by its fruit so be slow to speak as our words need to be edifying and lifting up others unto the glory of the Lord. But, yet we are stilled housed in this fleshly body where the sin nature dwells and we will miss the mark at times, but the Holy Spirit hears a heart of repentance.

Mat 12:36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
Mat 12:37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

There is a difference between answering a miss quoted biblical verse and talking about a Christian lifestyle.

There is a difference between answering a miss quoted biblical verse and talking about a Christian lifestyle.
A Christian lifestyle should always hold truth in what scriptures say, but many do love to twist, add to and take away to make their point. If you do not think that God will judge us for every idle word we speak against His word then you need to read Rev 22:18-19.

Rev 22:18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
Rev 22:19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
