Bible Study Matthew 7:15-27 - What is the message?

Can somebody explain to me the passages behind Matthew 7:15-27? What is God trying to tell us? How does it apply to our lives? What is your interpretation of it?

Thanks.

Hi there Brendan. Back in Jesus' day, there were men who were jealous of the Apostles. They were not true believers. I suppose that they thought they were true believers, but their profession was an outward not an inward, heart, profession. A classic example is found in the Gospel of John,

Joh 2:23 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did.
Joh 2:24 But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men,
Joh 2:25 And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.

The most important to a persons salvation is weather or not Jesus has "committed" Himself to the individual who is making the profession that he "believes" in Jesus. Many people make those professions because of reasons other than making Jesus the Master Owner if their lives. Jesus knows the hearts of all who profess to know Him. False teachers have believed on Jesus for, fame, fortune, or some other reason.

As the Scripture states, Jesus did not "commit" Himself to that person because He knows what is in man. Or in their heart.

Form one with poor secular education and no Biblical education and believes he is a Christian.
verse15 -20
I believe these verses are saying to the Christian test against Scripture; every word one hears preached .
One who may have 99% of scripture and 1% non scripture is false do not be taken in by these.
The tree is the pastor, teacher, prophet. ALL his words should must match scripture or it is false.
Verse 21-23
Words and actions can sometime fool humans. God sees past these into the heart and is able to discern
true believers.
verse 24-27
The storm of false prophets can be weathered if one test all pastors/ teachers/ prophets words against scripture.
House is the individual ( temple of God ). If one builds his beliefs on scripture that house will stand and God will
accept them. If there be as little as 1% false beliefs in the house God will reject them.
I am not saying i am right I saying this is my understanding.
