Bible Study Matthew 7:6

Give us some thoughts on what you think it means. After reading what Jesus said before, and then what He said afterwards, what 'pops' out at you? If at all possible, "forget"(temporarily) what you have learned in the past from other people. I say that not in a mean way. But sometimes we have to lay down our preconceived ideas to understand something from a fresh perspective. I am not saying that what you may have learned in the past is bad. Just trying to give you some insight on how I personally study.

First 'i' need to know what Inspiration classifies as swine, and the Gospel 'Pearls'are what?? 2 Peter 2:19-22

And other people? Jer. 17:5 Naw, I try to stick with Christ's Words of Matt. 4:4 & 2 Tim. 3:16's New Covenant TRUTH!

In Psalms 19 David is directed by the Holy Spirit's Inspiration to pen that the Law of the Lord Is PERFECT! 'More to be DESIRED THAN GOLD! And today we hear what?? It would seem that well past Matt. 7:6 we see the most (Broadway) ones becoming swine + the ones of verses 21-23. And it documents that it was their works that were the issue in verses 22-27 (and what does one hear about Christ's Loving Works being done by anyone?)

SO: Your question with the COMMAND by Christ in verse 6 just further states that we are not to waste His 'pearls' with these ones, after a time! Paul said in Titus 3:9-11 once or twice.. that 'i' think that your post took issue with??

OK: I personally see whatever comes about after several tries, to be VAIN when no heardway is seen. (Rom. 8:14) regardless if it be another or myself. On the forums it is somewhat different because of others that the Holy Spirit is trying to convince. We are in the day of Zeph. 1:12 with the Holy Spirit SEARCHING AS WITH CANDELS those who are of a sincere heart. (as I see it) And it doesn't take long for the ones of 1 Cor. 12:10's last part of the verse ones to know when 'one' is such!

I wish that you could talk to such a person in a S.C. Correction Inst. that we met a few months back. His father was a Petacostal minister. And he is now leading out in prison devotions as a vegetarian 7th Day Sabbath keeper. A couple more have also accepted the Lord's Day.

OK: About the Lord's 'Pearls'?? You think about that? It is known as fact, that the Rev. 17:1-5 ones, have, for well past any 120 years of the Lord trying to Lead them, are now what Inspiration has [now] classed them as, as a denomination. (in the plural)

I don't want to mislead anyone, but I will give it my best shot...

It seems to me that it is saying that we should not give what is holy to evil people. If we do, they will trample on that and tear you to pieces.

Yes.

Matthew 7:6 NLT
Don’t waste what is holy on people who are unholy.Don’t throw your pearls to pigs! They will trample the pearls, then turn and attack you.

We must reserve the sacred truths of Jesus Christ for those who we discern are eager and listening, otherwise it is a waste. We only have so much time.

The proverbial sower that Jesus teaches on scatters seed not on fallow ground, but as wisdom and good management tell him--he spreads his good seed on fertile ground. That is where we need to be sowing.

I have to admit, I did do a small amount of research on this, but I think I would have come to that same conclusion...

I would not let this fear rule your life. It is a good thing to not want to mislead, but a better thing to want to help. I am not saying you are fearful, but always, above all things, have faith that God is in control, and you wont go wrong.

In its essence that is what the passage states. But who is going to determine the "evilness" of the person? You or I? Are we any less evil than the next guy? So the passage goes deeper than the outward we can see from first glance.

The best way to start is by asking questions like Elijah was saying.

Mat 7:6 "Do not give dogs what is holy, and do not throw your pearls before pigs, lest they trample them underfoot and turn to attack you.

What are "dogs"? What is "holy"? What are "pearls"? What are "pigs"? What is this 'trampling' and what is this 'attacking'?

We also have to compare what the difference is between dogs and pigs. Is there a difference?

It might seem like a lot of work, but trust me when I say its worth it. Unless this is a life or death situation, it would be good to work through something like this. But if you just would like us to make comments on it then thats ok. I just thought you might be interested in doing a little digging for the answer?

I will not pretend that everyone will always be able to conduct a detailed Bible Study. But I also do not buy into the idea that everyone cannot have the same ability. Contradictory statement? No. I just do not want to make assumptions about a persons gift. I know that we each have gifts that differ. But I do not think that when it comes to personal knowledge we have to rely on someone else's gift. That is NOT saying that we cannot have someone to go to and ask for help.

I am not sure which parable you are speaking of, but the parable of the sower indicates that seed was sown in each of the four areas, not just intended for fertile ground.

Maybe this helps

Matthew Poole commentary

Mat 7:6
By swine and dogs, our Saviour doubtless understandeth wicked men of several sorts, either such as are more tame sinners, trampling upon holy things, and with swine wallowing in the mire of lusts and corruptions, Pro_26:11 The Scriptures 1998+) As a dog returns to his own vomit, So a fool repeats his folly.
2Pe_2:22; or, by dogs, more malicious, revengeful, boisterous sinners may be meant, whose consciences will serve them to bark and grin at the word of God, to mock at holy things, to persecute those that bring them the gospel, and are their open enemies, because they tell them the truth. The gospel is to be preached to every creature, Mar_16:15. But when the Jews were hardened, and spake evil of that way before the multitude, & c., Act_19:9, the apostles left preaching to them. The precept doubtless is general, directing the ministers of Christ to administer the holy things, with which they are intrusted, only to such as have a right to them, and under prudent circumstances, so as the holy name of God may not be profaned, nor they run into needless danger
