Bible Study Matthew Henry Study Bible

I was wondering what everyone thought of the Matthew Henry Study Bible, I just picked one up and so far, it seems on the mark.

Anyone else own one?

You can delete the multiple posts.

Remember, any study Bible has notes that are of someone's opinion. Never forget that. I'm sure it's good, but don't take the notes as gold or as all inclusive in understanding.

Personally, I prefer the Key Word Study Bible: minimal notes and lots of aids. Of study Bible's my first and still favorite is the Ryrie even though I'm not really a dispensationalist/pre-tribber. I also enjoy the macArthur Study Bible. The Defender's Study Bible is great witha focus on the Creation/Evolution aspect of the Word. Another favorite is the Serendipity Bible - it asks questions and is great for small groups.

Henry is a great general commentary for the Presbyterian/Reformed/Calvinist schools, the basic insight offered in the study Bible is wonderful. Plus, ya gotta lov the KJV!

If you like that one, try the Reformation Study Bible.

Hmmmm... I never saw any calvinism in it, per say...(SP?) at least not yet. ( I am by admission a 3 pointer myself... but not full blown 5 pointer...)

Anyhow, I like it so far, I just wish they sold a LARGE Print version, me eyeballs are not as young as they once were! :o 8-)

The same can be said of *ANY* study Bible. Not just this one. I own several:

1. Old Scofield (I'd never own a New Scofield)
2. Matthew Henry Study Bible
3. Dake Annotated Reference Bible (Only so I can get a Pentecostal viewpoint and see how messed up thier doctrine really is... :P :-D :D :bday

and I own a few other Bibles, Albiet most are inferior translations, like the Ampified Bible, HCSB, Not to mention all the stuff on E-Sword.

I'm pretty well rounded, study wise. and body wise too! :P : (yes, I am fat, and a bit sassy! : :D :-D :-D

I'm thinking about picking one up, Steve a memeber on this forum suggested the New Pilgrim and it's a wonderful study Bible with KJV english helps in the bottom for those who need'em. The Companion Bible by E. W. Bullinger is a great study Bible for the Hebrew and Greek BUT his conclusion drawn and given in his appendix are often incorrect...Dake copied a bunch from Bullinger.

The problem is, despite what they tell you, those are not Scofield's notes. they "revised" them. (in other words, took out anything that isn't "politically correct") :o

I'll NEVER own one. I'l stick to my OLD Scofield. Thanks.

Well, what do you say to that? :-D If you haven't seen it, how do you know what's been done to the Scofield III? None of the notes have been altered in any way, modern terms have been added to clear up some of old Sco's unclear notes...and he does have'em. If you read the intro you'll soon seen Scofield didn't much care for the KJV and his notes show that he liked the RSV.
