This may not be the right spot for this.
But what is the general feeling of a Church leader who thinks it's akin to idol worship to in any way honor the fallen or ex-military on the Sunday closest to Memorial day or the 4th of July, yet still does Mothers/Fathers day programs and a High School Graduation day program. It would seem to me that if it's idol worship to honor one, then it's idol worship for the others also.

its not idol worship. if so then well then lets cut the part out of the bible where it says david was a mighty warrior. he killed in battle defending the right of his people to worship YHWH. most will agree that the actions of the service pales in comparison to the Lords provision and might.
