Memorial Day is Monday. Each year, our little community has a special service in the cemetery to honor the veteran's buried there. We invite a color guard from Mountain Home AFB to raise the flags and the school children lead us in patriotic songs as well as recite poetry and the Gettysburg Address. Then each child places a cross and a flag on the graves of each veteran buried in the cemetary. We have 23 veteran's in our small community cemetary that have served in wars going back to the Civil War. However, none of them died in combat. Some helped settle this valley after the Civil War. Others simply finished their tour of duty, then returned home to raise their families and work the ranches.

This a picture that my daughter took of my son placing the cross and flag on 'his' veteran.

I hope everyone has a great Memorial Day weekend. And, I hope that as we go out to ball games, go camping, have picnics, bar-b-ques, or just take an extra day on the 'honey-do' list, we take time to remember and in some way honor those who have served or are serving their countries in the Military.

I've still got those morning were frost cover the ground  no camping yet.

If we walked around and put flags and crosses on graves, they'd be removed, within a few days.
Weird.

Must be nice to live in a place where normalcy is ok.
