Messiah vs. The Prophet

since Jesus and Mohammad are the focus of many a string (which would seem appropriate on this board :) ) I thought I'd start a thread regarding the views of both.

I'm going to go with the assumption that everyone knows why christians follow Jesus. He is The Messiah, (out ranking a prophet) and they don't consider Mohammad at all (except as just some guy, not even prophet status) Does this seem as a fair assessment?

to muslims, Mohammad is the man to follow and the christians, Jesus is the man to follow. so let me ask the muslims:

considering muslims see Jesus as merely a prophet, I'm curious:

what causes a muslim to rank Mohammad over Jesus? say, what would cause someone to follow Muhammad instead of Jesus? What do muslims see that Mohammad has they feel that Jesus doesn't?

any takers?

Qasim: The Prophet Jesus, peace be upon him, came down for the Jews only, and his ministry was imcomplete from the Muslims perspective. We believe he had not fully completed what he had come to do. Regardless of that we still say that he was one of the greatest men and prophet to live. However as the bible affirms, he was sent only to the Children of Israel.

Matthew10:5 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:

6But go ye rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

Here Jesus is commanding his disciples to not go to the gentiles, but only to the Children of Israel, the Jews.

Matthew 15:22-27 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.

23But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.

24But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

25Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.

26But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.

27And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.

Although Jesus did help the woman in the end, it is quite clear that Jesus was not sent, but to the Children of Israel.

We dont nececerrily rank any prophet over another but we believe that Muhammed, peace be upon him, left us a perfect way of life to follow, because he showed us how to implement Islam into every aspect of our daily lives. Most religions lay the foundations of what is right and what is wrong, however what the Prophet Muhammed brought is the way in which to implement our faith and submission to God, into our lives.

Islam is not about which prophet we prefer to follow because we believe every prophet came with the same message. The Most important thing in Islam is that we beleive in the Oneness of God, and that we bow in submission to his will. The Prophet Muhammed is our example to follow, and also the book that was revealed to him, was revealed for the whole of mankind, not to just a selected nation. So Muslims believe the Quran is the final and universal revelation to follow.

Biblical Prophecies About Muhammad (PBUH)

There are many prophecies of the coming of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) in the Bible; both in the book of the Old Testament and the book of the New Testament. The Qur’an tells us about this fact in surat As-Saff. Almighty Allah says: [And when Jesus son of Mary said: O Children of Israel ! Lo! I am the messenger of Allah unto you, confirming that which was (revealed) before me in the Torah, and bringing good tidings of a messenger who cometh after me, whose name is the Praised One. Yet when be hath come unto them with clear proofs, they say: This is mere magic.] (As-Saff 61: 6)

“There are many citations in the Bible prophesying the coming of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). All of Isaiah chapter 42 stands out as an obvious reference to Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) as a Messenger of Allah. This chapter describes him as a "light to the Gentiles." While Jesus repeatedly says, "I was not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel " (See Matthew 15:24 , 5:17 -18, and 10:5-6) It is only Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon both of him) that was sent as a Messenger for all of mankind (Jews and Gentiles).

Isaiah 42 makes a reference to this "servant of the Lord" as coming from the land of Kedar . It is important to note that Kedar was the second son of Ishmael, a forefather of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). One of the most striking prophecies of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) stand clear in Isaiah 21: ‘“An oracle concerning Arabia: You caravans of Dedanites, who camp in the thickets of Arabia , bring water to the thirsty; you who live in Tema, bring food for the fugitives. They flee from the sword, from the drawn sword, from the bent bow and from the heat of battle. This is what the Lord says to me: "Within one year, as a servant bound by contract would count it, all the pomp of Kedar will come to an end. The survivors of the bowmen, the warriors of Kedar will be few.’ The Lord, the God of Israel, has spoken.†(Isaiah 21:13-17)

This prophecy takes place in Arabia, the land of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). The "fugitives" in this case are the Prophet and his faithful Companions (may Allah be pleased with them). They fled from Makkah, leaving when Muhammad’s house was surrounded by the Quraish, drawn swords in hand. He fled to Madinah, peacefully acquired converts numbering upwards of ten thousand. Muhammad returned to fight the great Battle of Badr, in which the idolatrous Quraish, "the pomp of Kedar", suffered a crushing defeat. To this day, no Christian or Jewish Biblical scholar can generate an historic event that fits this prophecy.

Yet another prophecy of Muhammad, similar to this one, occurs in Deuteronomy 33:1-2: “And this is the blessing, where Moses the man of God blessed the children of Israel before his death. And he said, the Lord came from Sinai, and rose up from Se’ir unto them; he shined forth from mount Paran , and he came with ten thousand saints: from his right hand went a fiery law for them.â€Â

The Lord coming from Sinai alludes to Moses and "[rising] up from Se’ir" refers to Jesus (peace be upon both of them), as the place of his birth was called Se’ir. The prophet who "shined forth from mount Paran " can be none other than Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). Paran is the ancient name of the region of Arabia where the children of Ishmael settled. In Arabic, Paran is "Farran", which actually refers to Makkah and literally means "two refugees." It appears as though this took its name from Hagar and Ishmael (peace be upon them both) who went to this region as refugees when Ishmael was still young. And of course, coming with ten thousand saints, or holy men, descending upon Makkah, bearing a fiery law (the Glorious Qur’an) is an unmistakable reference to Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him.

Another reference to the Prophet is given by Jesus, where Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is referred to as the "Counselor" and the "Spirit of Truth". Jesus says: “But I tell you the truth. It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.†(John 16:7)

“I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. But when he, the Spirit of Truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you.†(John 16:12-14)

Since Jesus (peace be upon him) indicates that the Counselor will not come unless Jesus himself, leaves, it is virtually impossible for the Counselor to be the Holy Ghost, as some Christian scholars contend. The Holy Ghost occurs in Scripture before, during, and after Jesus’ life, so it cannot be that Jesus must leave for the Holy Ghost to arrive. It is already there. Similar to the "prophet like Moses" in Deuteronomy 18, this Counselor "will speak only what he hears." Through the Qur’an, the final revelation of Allah, and through the Sunnah, Muhammad is the one to guide us "into all truth." And both the Qur’an and Hadith tell us "what is yet to come." As for glorifying Jesus, Allah tells us in 3:56 that the Qur’an clears Jesus of the lies and speculation surrounding his life and his death.

There are a number of remaining references to Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) in the Bible, one where he is even mentioned by name in the original Hebrew (Song of Songs 5:9-16)! "Cheeko mame tah kim, vechulo Mohamadim." This meas "His language is most sweet, and he is Muhammad." In the English translations of the Bible, Muhammad's name is translated as "altogether lovely".â€Â

More propaganda for Islam... why can't they learn to be just a little self-critical?

no, I'm not kidding anyone. there is a reason why muslims follow muhammad and I for one have no idea why. so, I thought I'd ask.

simple enough? :D

Muslim follow Muhammad because:

1) He promises 72 virgins (each!) in paradise

2) He allows them to kill and murder in Allah's name... all you have to do is declare someone an enemy of Islam and then you can bomb and murder in the name of Allah.... while securing your place in paradise with your virgins

3) You can take 4 wives if you want

4) You can beat your wife

5) Getting to paradise is either blowing yourself and as many "kafir" as you can OR performing pagan-like rituals 5 times a day. People love rituals.

Want more reasons?

Here we se that Jesus is not only send to the house of Israel but also to the gentiles and even Shaul (Paul) admit so.
John 10

14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. 15 As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.
16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.
17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.
18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.

Ephesians 2

8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
11 Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;
12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:
13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;
15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:
17 And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.
18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

Yeah you sure do follow your prophet Muhammad in raping, plundering, murdering, lying and GOD knows what else your doing to whip out the Christians Muhammad is death whereas Jesus is alive and soon coming back to get his people and thats not the muslims

Aren't you forgetting something here like a couple of verses maybe?

JOHN 16

7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
9 Of sin, because they believe not on me; BELIVETH OF JESUS NOT MUHAMMAD
10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. 13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
15 All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
16 A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father. YOU DON'T EVEN BELIEVE THAT GOD WAS THE FATHER OF JESUS DO YOU?

And this one should clear things up a bit.
JOHN 14
13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; AND WHY JESUS PRAY TO HIS FATHER TO GIVE US A MAN WHO WOULD DENY THAT JESUS WAS THE SON OF GOD PLEASE EXPLAIN IF YOU CAN?
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. AS YOU CAN READ HERE THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH WILL ABIDE WITH US FOREVER AND SINCE MUHAMMAD IS STINKING DEATH IT CAN'T BE HIM CAN IT? AND MUHAMMAD DWELLETH IN HELL AND NOT WITH US CERTAINLY NOT WITH ME
18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
20 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
22 Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?
23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.
25 These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.
26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. AND WHAT DID MUHAMMAD LEAVE NOTHING BUT HEARTACH AND SORROW.
28 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.
29 And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.
30 Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.
31 But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.

And now your really calling us stupid and ignorant since we don't know how to translate our own Bible and whats more your calling the Hebrew scholars the same and for your info it is about JESUS and nobody else and if it was about Muhammad it should have been he is altogether ugly and his langugae is filthy

As usually a pack of islamic liars nowhere is it written in the Song of Songs that Muhammad's langague is most sweet, he probably cursed like the devil that he was.

oh well. stuff happens :)

If I said that the Jesus of the bible is wrong because the god, Komar, revealed to me that all of the authors of the bible & eyewitnesses to Jesus's life & death are lying, would you believe me? That's exactly what Mohammed did.

maybe people are just not reading my post right. maybe I didn't write it right. I have no idea.

but I was asking thier view of the two and why they were the way they were. not everyone who reads these boards is christian and may not have a clue as to how anyone see either.

goodness. I'll just have it locked, because it doesn't appear we can actually have a discussion.

While Nuhmmies request for a locking is going to be respected, it's not just because he asked. This thread is just another thread full of pointed arguments. Nuhmmie is right and I think some users need to chill out. 8-)
