The theoretical physicist Michio Kaku claims to have developed a theory that might point to the existence of God. The information has created a great stir in the scientific community because Kaku is considered one of the most important scientists of our times, one of the creators and developers of the revolutionary String Theory which is highly respected throughout the world.

I've always liked this guy. Of course, his intellect and field of study is on a level such that most of us can't even understand his theories, let alone argue for or against them. :)

Kaku thinks God isn't great enough to effect His will by contingency? Can't say from what I find.

Sounds like he likes Einstein's God, who is logical, a lover of beauty and order, and one that keeps hands off. "Der Alte" is not the personal, loving God of Abraham.

Even if He can be described as "logical, a lover of beauty and order, and one that keeps hands off" this does not preclude that Einstein was correct on the final part of his hypothetical assessment (the keeps his hands off part). Kaku does not conclude this God is not great enough to effect His will by contingency, nor that He cannot ALSO make Himself known personally so that comment is irrelevant.

He can only say that one way of looking at this implies an intelligence exists at the core or source but says nothing about other qualities of such a potential being. So don't worry some day science will catch up (it always does).

Sounds like Kaku is saying certain features of the universe are best explained by an intelligent cause, not an undirected process...

Right.
He is looking at the universe as a scientist, not as a theologian. So, we shouldn't be disappointment when he doesn't come up with the God of the Bible by looking at the stars. That's not his field of expertise

iakov the fool :confused2.

THAT is the point of my post.

But, I don't want it to "catch up". Because if he suddenly becomes a Christian, his position becomes same as ours. As long as he stays within the scientific context, he supports us without moving into theology. Sure, I'd like him to come to know the Lord, you bet.

But those standing outside of theology who are making scientific observations who also see things somewhat like we do really have more to offer, in a way. This guy does NOT believe in the Bible, not from what I've seen - but he DOES see well enough to 'know' that the universe is not all just some cosmic accident or inevitability, which is what most of science says.

Slowly but surely more and more (even if only a few at a time) are coming to the same conclusion.

Congrats on 1,000 posts, brother Paul.

You win this rock, adopt it as a pet or enjoy it with some Ranch Dressing. ;)
