I'll certainly say a prayer for you. I would like to add that serious migraines have been in my family. My migraines were becoming more frequent as I got older--to the point of having one every week or so (sometimes loosing part of my vision; serious pain; numbness, etc.). Haven't had one in about 4 months now. They stopped when I started supplementing with the mineral Boron (certainly an unexpected side effect). A retaliative of mine informed me of its health benefits. After doing some research, I discovered that the commercially available Boron (Borax) is just the undiluted mineral pulled straight from the ground. Nothing is added (I checked the box and the manufacturer's website). It's just a mineral, an important mineral necessary for many functions in the body. In addition, I need less sleep now and I am more alert.

I use the 20MuleTeam brand available just about everywhere.

The recommended ratio is 1 teaspoon of Borax to 1 liter of water. That produces a concentrated solution. If you don't heat the water up first to dissolve the mineral, then it will take about 6 hours to dissolve in cold water. I don't use heat, although I have read that you can; so I guess the heat does not effect it. I simply use a used 1 liter bottle and use the cap of the bottle to measure the concentrated solution. However, I only fill the bottle up half way, and to maintain the ratio, I use half a teaspoon of the Borax. I also keep it in the fridge as much as possible.

The dosing is 1 teaspoon of the liquid concentrate, 1 to 3 times daily depending on the severity of your health situation. I have been using 1 to 2 capfulls (1 capfull =1 teaspoon) a day.

As I understand it, there is no need to worry about toxicity unless you take megadoses. Similar to the toxic effects of taking too much salt. Of course, just about everything can be toxic, including water, if you take in too much of it.

Prior to discovering Boron, I would take three Asprin at the onset of Migraine symptoms. And that would prevent them from becoming too severe.

The migraines have been holding off. The fibromyalgia has been bad generally, but right now as of this moment it's not there. Someone must be praying for me.

I'm not trying to play doctor, but has your prescriber given you anything for the headaches? Back when I got (relatively minor) migraines, my doctor gave me Midrin. Its a sedative+caffeine+other stuff combination that you take when the headache first hits, so it doesn't get worse. Fioricet is another one that I think is more commonly prescribed.

Oh yes, we've done a ton of experimentation. I have come to rely mostly on Imitrex, which works most, but not all of the time. As a backup, I also use Dilaudid. Those caffeine combos are not strong enough for me, even taken early as a prophylaxis.

The Dilaudid "trick" has an interesting story. It was on one of my emergency room trips (yes, the migraines get that bad). The doctor pumped me up with Dilaudid (hydromorphone), which is an opioid pain medication, therefore usually given for more general pain. It worked on the migraine. Strangely, it does not relieve my FM. Would have been nice to have found a one-stop rescue medication.

That doctor was amazing, btw. He actually called me up the next day just to see how I was doing. I was very impressed.

Did you read my earlier post? I too have had them since the age of 8 or 9. Horrible ones with partial loss of sight, numbness in hands/face, loss of ability to say a coherent sentence, horrifying pain that incomcapacities. My family used to use PM Excedrin at the onset of migraines (my mother suffered with them too). This would knock us out so that we could sleep through them if caught rearly enough. Then my mom discovered that taking 3 Aspirin at the onset of a migraine would keep the worse of the symptoms away if taken early enough. Now with the use of Borax (boron) they are a thing of the past. I have not done any research to see if others boron users have found relief. Pharmaceutical companies beware
