MILLENIAL SABBATH.

What does everyone think of this theory? It derives from Jewish prohecy, I believe. Its basically follows the theme "God created the earth in 6 days and rested on the seventh". The 7th millenium starts in 2033, 2000 years after Jesus death. Some people believe the rapyur will occur around that time. Which is pretty close. I don't know what I believe about the end times other than I need to always be ready, but this does intrigue me.

your math is just i little off, you have to keep in mind that a hebrew/jewish year only had 360 days in it, and there are several ways of proving this from the bible itself, so assuming that 33ad is the correct year to start off with, the math should go as follows:

2000x360/365.25+33=2004.25

so if 33ad is the correct date, then the new day has already started, but how can we know for sure that 33ad is the correct date?, also look at this prophecy in Hosea:

Hos 6:2 After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.

and this:

2Pe 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

You are correct

I didn't think of the 360 day thing. I guess the best way to look at the subject is we'll either be raptured or die in the next 60 years so we need to be ready at all times.

The Jewish year does not have a set number of days. The year is based on 12 lunar cycles, which can be 29 or 30 days depending on the observation of the first crescent of the new moon. However, they also add a thirteenth month to correct for the solar cycle.

A very simple explanation of a complex process.

Quote from the Epistel of Barnabas (100AD or less)

Generally accepted to be the genuine Barnabas, Paul's companion.

Chap. XV.  The False and the True Sabbath.
Further,145 also, it is written concerning the Sabbath in the Decalogue which [the Lord] spoke, face to face, to Moses on Mount Sinai, “And sanctify ye the Sabbath of the Lord with clean hands and a pure heart.†(Exo_20:8; Deu_5:12) And He says in another place, “If my sons keep the Sabbath, then will I cause my mercy to rest upon them.†(Jer_17:24, Jer_17:25) The Sabbath is mentioned at the beginning of the creation [thus]: “And God made in six days the works of His hands, and made an end on the seventh day, and rested on it, and sanctified it.â€Â146 Attend, my children, to the meaning of this expression, “He finished in six days.†This implieth that the Lord will finish all things in six thousand years, for a day is147 with Him a thousand years. And He Himself testifieth,148 saying, “Behold, to-day149 will be as a thousand years.†(Psa_90:4; 2Pe_3:8) Therefore, my children, in six days, that is, in six thousand years, all things will be finished. “And He rested on the seventh day.†This meaneth: when His Son, coming [again], shall destroy the time of the wicked man,150 and judge the ungodly, and change the sun, and the moon,151 and the stars, then shall He truly rest on the seventh day. Moreover, He says, “Thou shalt sanctify it with pure hands and a pure heart.†If, therefore, any one can now sanctify the day which God hath sanctified, except he is pure in heart in all things,152 we are deceived.153 Behold, therefore:154 certainly then one properly resting sanctifies it, when we ourselves, having received the promise, wickedness no longer existing, and all things having been made new by the Lord, shall be able to work righteousness.155 Then we shall be able to sanctify it, having been first sanctified ourselves.156 Further, He says to them, “Your new moons and your Sabbath I cannot endure.†(Isa_1:13) Ye perceive how He speaks: Your present Sabbaths are not acceptable to Me, but that is which I have made, [namely this,] when, giving rest to all things, I shall make a beginning of the eighth day, that is, a beginning of another world. Wherefore, also, we keep the eighth day with joyfulness, the day also on which Jesus rose again from the dead.157 And158 when He had manifested Himself, He ascended into the heavens.

From the Jewish perspective....

The Jewish Encyclopedia declares:
The Perso-Babylonian world-year of twelve millenniums, however, was transformed in Jewish eschatology into a world-week of seven millenniums corresponding with the week of Creation. The verse, "A thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday" (Ps 90:4) having suggested the idea that the present world of toil is to be followed by a Sabbatical millennium, "the world to come." Of these the six millenniums were again divided, as in Parsism, into three periods: the first 2000 years devoid of the law; the next 2000 years under the rule of the law; and the last 2000 years preparing amid struggles and through catastrophes for the rule of the Messiah ("Eschatology," The Jewish Encyclopedia, V, p.211).

and,

"The Tanna debe Eliyyahu teaches: The world is to exist six thousand years. In the first two thousand there was desolation; (i.e. no Torah. It is a tradition that Abraham was fifty-two years old when he began to convert men to the worship of the true God; from Adam until then, two thousand years elapsed) two thousand years the Torah flourished; and the next two thousand years is the Messianic era, (i.e. Messiah will come within that period) but through our many iniquities all these years have been lost. (He should have come at the beginning of the last two thousand years; the delay is due to our sins.)"

How wierd is this...I'm quoting myself, quoting someone else....

Look at the highlight in red.....I've seen this before but it just stuck out this morning....The Jews were actually looking for Messiah at the beginning of the 4000th year.....Jesus appeared in the 4000th year....How could they have missed him? Many Jews did, many did not.

The Jewish teaching on the Millenial Sabbath is profound and accurate, in my numble opinion. The question as to why many missed seeing the Messiah in the 4000th year was due to their preconceived ideas of what His coming should look like. They expected the Lion of Judah to crush their enemies and free them from their opressors. However, the Lamb of God showed up instead and in their disappointment and staunch prophetic reasoning, they denied Him.

History repeats itself.

We should be expecting the Lion of Judah to show up to destroy Israel's enemies and free them from their opression. However, most of christianity is expecting the Lamb of God to show up after they have disappeared from the world. They will be lounging on the clouds of heaven while the Messiah destroys Israel and its enemies.

Perhaps we should not be so emphatic in our beliefs about what His coming will look like and focus on being obedient to His Word.

Just my $0.02

And of course Bishop Usher set a date for creation at 4004 BC based on available records and Bible geneology.

Another issue about dating "creation" from the YEC perspective is that we really don't know for sure what the deleterious effect of the Flood were on the actual solar cycle of the earths rotation or revolution around the sun.

The Tsunami Christmas 2004 in Indonesia actually slowed the earth's rotation a little. Who knows what the global Flood did and how far we are off. I think there is good reason to believe that before the Flood, the earth went around the sun every 360 days and months were divided in to 30 days each according to the moons phases.

Why, because of three things:
1) the oldest math system in the world, Babylonian, is based on a system of 60 instead of 10.

2) The idea that a circle is 360 segments is old beyond memory and no doubt related to item 1.

3) The Jewish calendar is based on 30 day months and God's definition of 150 days during the flood was 5 months.

So how do we know anything? Is God's clock still running at the original time?

Experiements were people are put into isolation from the solar cycle to see what their bio-clock naturally is set for, live closer to a 25 hour day.

3) The Jewish calendar is based on 30 day months and God's definition of 150 days during the flood was 5 months.

This is a fallacy that I have already addressed (third reply to this thread).

Have you looked at a Jewish calendar lately? The months have either 29 or 30 days. The current Jewish calendar was "fixed" (R. Hillel ben Nassi)around the same time that the Sabbath was officially abolished at the Council of Nicea. This was done essentially because of false witnesses that were trying to 'confuse' the Jewish observance of festivals.

However, the New Moon rarely falls on the 1st of the Jewish months any longer. Is anyone actually keeping the correct festival days anymore? The Jews aren't.
