What is Mithraism all about im kinda lost about it seems alot like Christianity. Thanks Obs
 
Part II of The Gnostics and their Remains (1887) has a detailed account of Mithraism and its links to early Christianity. Cumont's Mysteries of Mithra (1903) concentrates on Mithraism in Ancient Rome (where it influenced the development of Christianity).

Mithras is originally an Indo-Iranian Solar deity whose worship became popular among Roman soldiers. Amongst other influences, "Invincible Sun" (sol invictus), a title of Mithras, was also used for both Roman Emperors and for Christ. Sunday was sacred to Mithras, and December 25th was Mithras' birthday and festival. Mithras also appears in Indian religion under the name Maitreya (the next Buddha).
