Do you befriend Christians, Jews and Muslims? (in spite of Muhammad's instructions)

Sura 5:51 from Mo's booklet
"O ye who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends and protectors. They are but friends and protectors to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them (for friendship) is of them. Verily God guideth not a people unjust."

Muslim commentator Yusuf Ali: "They are more likely to combine against you than to help you. And this happened more than once in the lifetime of the Apostle, and in after-ages again and again. He who associates with them and shares their counsels must be counted as of them."

Christian commentary: In the early days in Mecca, the enemies were the pagan Quraish while Jews and Christians were respected. In Medina, after the Jews rejected Mohammad's claim of prophet-hood, the enemies of Islam grew to include the Jews and Christians. Compare this hate for your neighbour vs. Jesus' command to "love your neighbour; love your enemy."

(Note: I have corrected the Sura verse number from 5:54 to 5:51 ---- Jayhawk/Syed may not be aware but many Qurans number the verses differently! I have a Yusuf Ali translation ijn front of me which clearly has the above verse as 5:54. "The Holy Quran, Translation and commentary by A. Yusuf Ali, published by Islamic Propagation Center International - printed 4/1993" --- see page 259)

I don't hate Moslems or Jews, I do hate Islam and False Judaism!

Incorrect.

Sura 5:54 goes like this...

O ye who believe! if any from among you turn back from his Faith, soon will Allah produce a people whom He will love as they will love Him,- lowly with the believers, mighty against the rejecters, fighting in the way of Allah, and never afraid of the reproaches of such as find fault. That is the grace of Allah, which He will bestow on whom He pleaseth. And Allah encompasseth all, and He knoweth all things.

I surely hope you are not trying to mislead anyone here.

And I also believe that we have discussed 5:51 previously and the truth behind the meaning.

Your own Muslim commentaror Yusuf Ali, who you often reference, says the following about this sura/verse:

Muslim commentator Yusuf Ali: "They (Christians and Jews) are more likely to combine against you than to help you. And this happened more than once in the lifetime of the Apostle, and in after-ages again and again. He who associates with them (Christians and Jews) and shares their counsels must be counted as of them."

Do you now reject what Yusuf Ali says and what the sura/verse clearly teaches? Both cannot be right. Choose one. Either you DO befriend Jews and Christians (and therefore go against what Mo commanded you to do) or you do as Mo said: "Take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends and protectors. They are but friends and protectors to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them (for friendship) is of them."

I see that you have mastered the rip-the-verse-out-of-context arguement.

And then of course you tell me that Yusuf Ali and the verse is contradictory? How so? He pointed to the historical background on which the verse was implemented.

Know this...the verse is giving a clue as to the time it came down.

It came down at a time when there was great hostility between the Jews-Christians-Pagans against the Muslims in Arabia. The verse asks the Muslims not to betray their unity by sleeping with the enemy so to speak.
It isn't a message to every Muslim in the distant future when there is peace to still hold on to those hostilities.

Indeed, we see this when the Prophet himself is invited to the house of a Jewish woman and is poisoned. Would you like to see the hadith? (I'm asking as I do not have a reference to it as of the time being)

Mo the hater of Jews and Christians

Muslim commentator Yusuf Ali: "They (Christians and Jews) are more likely to combine against you than to help you. And this happened more than once in the lifetime of the Apostle, and in after-ages again and again. He who associates with them (Christians and Jews) and shares their counsels must be counted as of them."

It could not be clearer. There is NO reference to this verse being replaced or that the verse only applies for a particular time. This is a universal verse, still used by Muslims today. It was one of the last Sura revealed by Mo so it still applies. Only muslims who want to mislead others try and claim that this verse has been abrogated. There is no evidence at all in the Quran that this is the case.

"O ye who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends and protectors. They are but friends and protectors to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them (for friendship) is of them. Verily God guideth not a people unjust."

Gospel 2 John 10 from Biblical Je' booklet:
"If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed"

Biblical Je was the one who ordered not to associate with non-Christians, and not to receive them into our house or even exchange greeting with [2 John 10]

If you understood the verse 2 John 10 from Biblical Je' book, then you might be able to understand what is meant by the Noble Verse 5:51.

Jesus'/God's instruction...

Exodus 22: 20

He who sacrifices to any god, except to the LORD only, he shall be utterly destroyed.

Kill any friends or family that worship a god that is different than your own. Deuteronomy 13:6-10

Kill all the inhabitants of any city where you find people that worship differently than you. Deuteronomy 13:12-16

Kill everyone who has religious views that are different than your own. Deuteronomy 17:2-7

Do the Muslims know God personally in the form of the Holy Spirit or are they just hoping and praying that Mohammed is right? Unfortunately, they won't be able to find out until it's too late. Mohammed was a sinner who was right sometimes and wrong sometimes. So therefore, it is just a guess. I know I wouldn't want to gamble my soul on a guess. Sounds like the word of a sinner is a pretty shaky foundation on which to put one's faith, soul, and his very life. But, to each man, his own path.
