Motivation

There is the Christian context of course. I will get to that later.
But motivation in general. How is yours?
To get up early in the morning?
To go to work if you work?
To meet new people?
To get fit?
To stay fit?
To learn something new?
To change your current lifestyle? ( If you need to)
To lose weight?
To eliminate bad habits?
To see the good in people?
To modify your opinions? Or change them completely?
To stay healthy?
To live a long life?
To read my next post? 😊

I've currently lost 5kg in a month. It's given me a lift. But do I have the motivation to lose another 5 kg ? Can I quit orange juice and ginger ale?
When the going gets tough, ...............
The problem is I am soft on myself when I need to be disciplined. And hard on myself when I need to be kind. You have that ice cream...so what...the occasional blow out..... self.forgive and get back on track.

As a Christian we might say "God is the author of my life. I let him write the next chapter."
But I suspect there is a kind of co authorship. We write together. He starts to trust our instinct for writing because it shows some of the influence of the Spirit.
So the remaining chapters of my life. I want to see some surprises. Some interesting things occur. To keep my hope going. My interest in life. My motivation. I might even have some international travel left in me.

The problem with most motivation is that it doesn't last. Our initial enthusiasm dies off.
This can happen in relationships too. We think a person is great. But turns out they have some flaws you weren't counting on. Your motivation for staying in contact with them, starts to wane.
I am wary of this now. I don't trust my "honeymoon" period with people. Everyone comes back to the pack sooner or later. Better not to expect.

My motivation for staying on this forum took another hit.
I'm not funny any more. Just weird.
Weird and not funny is a bad combo.

Notice the young waitress, eager to please,. Service with a smile.
Notice the old waitress. "Yeah whadaywanttt?". In an annoyed tone.
Stereotypes but still.
Young keen motivated.
Old bored and unmotivated.

Motivation is a challenge as we get older.
But it's so important. We have to strive harder. It doesn't come naturally.
I do exactly the same cleaning job everyday. But I try to change it up. I almost enjoy it . Even 5 years doing the same thing.
Hey but I struggle with diet. That yoghurt and ice cream are hard to give up.
Motivation in our faith is of course crucial.
That's another I need to work on.

Notice the old waitress. "Yeah whadaywanttt?".
Here in the deep south they say "whachont " while snapping chewing gum :lol .

Tried the Keto diet ? My wife likes it and most of my meals are what she cooks so by default mine is some keto too .

Yogurt is good for you with vitamin D , calcium and pro-biotics , although some brands load in the sugar . We have in the past made our own yogurt and that way you can control how much sweetner is added . Have you ever tried yogurt without sugar ?
