PRAYER UPDATE FROM ISRAEL (February 28, 2006)
1. THE ZEAL OF THE LORD AND THE ZEAL OF HAMAS.

"...I SEE A ROD OF AN ALMOND TREE." THEN THE LORD SAID TO ME, "YOU
HAVE SEEN WELL, FOR I AM WATCHING OVER MY WORD TO PERFORM IT" (Jeremiah
1:11-12 NASU).
In Hebrew, the words for "almond" and "to be diligent, alert, to watch
over" are identical in spelling, only pronounced slightly differently.
At present the little white almond blossoms are shining on the hills
and valleys around Jerusalem, reminding us as they do every year at this
time that our God is alert and watchful over His Word...regarding
Jerusalem, Israel and the Nations.
One of the "words" we are holding to these days is found in Zechariah
2:14, 17: "I am zealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with great
zeal...the LORD will again comfort Zion, and will again choose Jerusalem"
This "zeal" of the LORD (which can also be translated "jealousy) is
mentioned as an attribute of God through which His Word is performed.
When He says in Isaiah 37:32 and II Kings 19:31 that a remnant will be
saved from Jerusalem and Mount Zion, we are told that "The ZEAL of the
LORD of Hosts will do this."
In Isaiah 59:17, He is "clad with ZEAL as a cloak."
And, most significantly here, when He speaks of the future
Messiah (Yeshua-Jesus) being placed "upon the throne of David and over
His kingdom to order it and establish it forever" (Isaiah 9:6-7), again
we are told, "The ZEAL of the LORD of Hosts will perform this."
Now, a word for "zeal" in Arabic is "Hamas", and it has been taken as
an acronym by the "Islamic Resistance Movement. The symbol for this
organization is two crossed swords with the Dome of the Rock rising
between them.
This Dome stands on the Temple Mount where the throne of Messiah will stand. Inscribed within the walls of that "Dome" are words
from the Koran, "Praise be to Allah, who has never begotten a son...."
Of course, in Psalm 2 Adonai tells us that He not only has a Son, but that
Son will rule "upon Zion, My holy mountain." It is said of Yeshua that
while on earth, "zeal for His Father's house (located on the spot now
occupied by the Islamic Dome) consumed Him" (John 2:17).
It is obvious that a confrontation of epic dimensions is coming.
We must not be deceived into thinking that this Islamic "Hamas/ZEAL" is
some small localized ideology related merely to a movement in Gaza and
the West Bank. This "democratically elected" entity sees itself as
spokesperson for a "Nation of Islam" knowing no boundaries. Witness the
following tiny portion of an address made by a little over two weeks ago
(February 7th) by Hamas Leader Khaled Mash'al in a Damascus mosque
(Emphasis are ours):
"We say to this West, which does not act reasonably, and does not learn
its lessons: By Allah, you will be defeated. You will be defeated in
Palestine...True, it is Israel that is being defeated there, but WHEN
ISRAEL IS DEFEATED, ITS PATH IS DEFEATED, THOSE WHO CALL TO SUPPORT IT ARE DEFEATED ...Israel will be defeated, and so will whoever supported or supports it.
America will be defeated in Iraq...The NATION OF MUHAMMAD is gaining victory in Palestine. The NATION OF MUHAMMAD is gaining
victory in Iraq...Today, the Arab and ISLAMIC NATION is rising and
awakening, and it will reach its peak...
It will link the present to the past. It will open up the horizons of the future. It will regain the leadership of the world...
I say to the [European countries]: Hurry up and apologize to our NATION, because if you do not, you will regret it...do not leave a black mark in the collective memory of the NATION, because our NATION will not forgive you.
TOMORROW, OUR NATION WILL SIT ON THE
THRONE OF THE WORLD.
This is not a figment of the imagination, but a fact. Tomorrow we will lead the world, Allah willing.
Apologize today, BEFORE REMORSE WILL DO YOU NO GOOD . . .
[As the crowd chants "Death to Israel, Death to America"] "BEFORE ISRAEL DIES, IT MUST BE HUMILIATED AND DEGRADED...their generals will be of no avail to them. The last of their generals has been forgotten. ALLAH HAS MADE HIM DISAPPEAR. He's over. Gone is that Sharon behind whose back they would hide and find shelter...
TODAY THEY HAVE FRAIL LEADERS, WHO DON'T EVEN KNOW WHERE OUR
LORD PLACED THEM. Allah willing, we will make them lose their eyesight,
we will make them lose their brains.
I say to America, Europe, and the West: It is in your interests to change your relations and policies regarding the Arab and Islamic nation and the Palestinian cause...
Israel will be defeated and will be of no use to you...Change your policy
soon, if you want to protect your interests, and maintain healthy relations
with the east."
This past week Mash'al visited Iran, where that country's supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei called the Hamas victory in Palestinian elections a "divine, sweet surprise" and promised Iranian financial aid.
It is of significance that zeal is often associated with anger (Of
course the zealous person always presumes that his or her anger is
"righteous anger"). And when the zeal is not fueled by the Holy Spirit, the
spirit behind it will invariably be a cruel one. Interestingly, a Hebrew
word for "cruel" is also pronounced "hamas".
In Psalm 25:19, David cries in words which would certainly be applicable to the harangue above, "Consider my enemies, for they are many; and they hate me with a cruel (hamas) hatred."
And after Simeon and Levi in their zeal for their
sister's honor committed mass murder in Shechem (modern day Nablus, where we may still be suffering its consequences), Jacob their father wasn't
appreciative, "Instruments of cruelty (hamas) are in their dwelling
place...cursed be their anger, for it is fierce; and their wrath, for it
is cruel!" (Genesis 49:5,7). Paul, as a very religious Jew spoke of
the zeal which he as a Jew had before it came under the control of the
Holy Spirit, "zeal for God, but not according to knowledge" (Romans
10:2); "concerning zeal, persecuting the Church" (Philippians 3:6).
But Messiah "gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every
lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for
good works" (Titus 2:14).

*Psalm 25:19: Consider the words of Israel's (and those who stand with
her) enemies, for they are many; and they hate with a cruel hatred.
*That believers in Israel and around the world will not face off
against the taunts and threats of the "Nation of Islam" with the zeal of the
flesh, but will seek the LORD of Hosts through the Holy Spirit in
wrapping themselves in HIS zeal.
*That Israeli Believers will realize that the anger of man does not
work the righteousness of God, that we will "be angry and sin not." That
in the coming war, both spiritual and physical, our zeal will come from
the Holy Spirit and not from our emotions.
*That through the Blood of Messiah, we would allow ourselves to be
redeemed from EVERY LAWLESS DEED, and purified as His special people,
ZEALOUS for GOOD WORKS!
2. PRAY FOR SHEPHERDS.

"WOLF ATTACKS IN THE AREA ARE ON THE RISE . . ." [Recent headline in a
Jerusalem paper regarding an increase in the activity of wild wolves
in the Galilee].
As the howls of wolves grow nearer outside out borders, it is important
not to be unaware of those threatening the sheep from within. Last
week an Israeli friend, a Messianic Jew, shared with us how her landlord
recently tried to bribe her by promising to do much-needed work on her
apartment if she (a woman!) would join the Masonic order of which he is
a member.
Many outside of Israel are not aware of the work of
pseudo-Christian cults and other false religions going on in Israel. Masons
like to trace their lineage back through Hiram who helped Solomon build
the Temple. Every year Masons from around the world gather for rites in
an underground location near Damascus Gate in Jerusalem. One can see
symbols of the order in other parts of the Old City. The Mormons have a
large beautiful facility near one end of the Mount of Olives where
Israelis often attend concerts.
This past week the Dalai Lama visited Israel. He is quite popular here--flags on the highway entering Jerusalem honored him as a special visitor; editor's columns in newspapers spoke of how refreshing it was to be exposed to a "religion of peace" when most other religions seem so warlike.
Many Israelis are attracted to him personally because of his forced exile by the Chinese from Tibet, while thousands of secular Israelis are fascinated with the Buddhist philosophies he espouses.
The two Chief Rabbis met and were photographed with the Dalai Lama and, shockingly, proposed "establishment of a religious United Nations in Jerusalem, headed by the Dalai Lama."
These are examples of "wolves" who are threatening and ravaging
non-believers in the Land. Others are coming against the Body (Thousands of ultra-0rthodox assembled in Arad last night to formulate plans for
harassing and eventually kicking out the Messianic Jewish believers there),
and, of course, there are those seeking to work their way into the
Messianic and Arab Christian congregations.
We take the newspaper article to be a prophetic warning. Acts 20:28-31
speaks of "savage wolves" which come in, not sparing the flock, "Be on
guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit
has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He
purchased with His own blood."
In John 10:11 Yeshua (Jesus) says, "I AM the good shepherd, the good shepherd lays down his life for his sheep."
He goes on to warn of the "hired hand" who is not concerned about the
sheep, who sees the wolf coming and flees and many are snatched or
scattered.

*Against the increase of "wolves" in Israel.
* For an increase in "shepherds" - pastors called by the Holy Spirit,
who have the same love for the flock as the Master Shepherd, even to the
point of laying down their lives for the sheep. We are not merely
speaking of heads of congregations here, but of those mantled with the
office of Pastor mentioned in Ephesians 4:11.
* Shepherds like David (who fought a bear and lion)....shepherds who
are not in it for hire...who LOVE the sheep
*That ALL of the offices mentioned in Eph. 4:11 would be awakened and
operative in Israel...and that the Body here would allow the Spirit to
do whatever modifications might be necessary in forming a governmental
structure (fold) which will hold, nurture and protect the vast number of
sheep which will soon be being born.
3. A ONE-MONTH WINDOW OF GRACE FOR ENGLAND.

Last summer we addressed the serious anti-Israel rhetoric which has
continuously characterized the term of Ken Livingstone as Mayor of London.
Among other things, the Mayor placed the blame of the London bombings
on Israel, accused Israel of indiscriminately slaughtering men, women
and children in the West Bank and Gaza for decades, of "illegally"
invading Egypt and Jordan during the Six Day War, and virtually exonerated
the acts of Palestinian suicide bombers against Israelis.
We pointed out that as London's titular "gatekeeper", such constant continual reviling of Israel could well be opening breaches in the security of the very city he has been elected to oversee.
Early last year, Mr. Livingstone verbally abused a Jewish journalist, likening him, after being told that he was Jewish, to a Nazi concentration camp guard.
The Mayor has refused to apologize, even after being requested to do so by the Prime Minister.
Last week the Adjudication Panel for England, ruling on the case of the
insult suspended Mayor Livingstone from office for four weeks, stating
that "The mayor does seem to have failed, from the outset of this case,
to have appreciated that his conduct was unacceptable, was a breach of
the code (the Greater London Authority code of conduct) and did damage
to the reputation of his office".
He is also required to pay his own costs in the case, some $175,000. The suspension is to begin March 1st.
Righteousness exalts a nation. We believe that this act of justice
opens a gate for grace in the heavenlies over England...just as the
anti-Israel, anti-Semitic curses of the Mayor opened a door for cursing.
PLEASE PRAY:

*That the findings of the Adjudication Panel will stand, and will not
be voided by appeals on the part of the Mayor.
*That during this month of March, believers will look to the Lord and
hear what His Spirit is saying to the Churches in Britain; that
prophetic leaders with discernment will know how to intercede during this
strategic time.
*That England can be turned into line with God's redemptive purposes
for her.
*That, as we wrote last summer, Mayor Ken Livingstone will either turn
from the evil he is fond of speaking against God's chosen people and
land, or be replaced by a Mayor who honors Israel.

Hostile takeovers have been happening since Cain killed his brother Abel!
