Saying you repent and actually repenting are two different things. To repent is to turn around and go the other way. From a Christian perspective, this means to turn away from your sinful ways and back to God's way. It takes a complete change of heart. Here are a couple examples. A thief will no longer entertain the thought of stealing anymore but will resist the temptation with all his/her heart. A liar will no longer lie but speak truth in all things.

For more examples check out Luke, chapter 3, where John the Baptist gives some explanations.

Tell God not us, as 1john1:9 says, he will forgive us.
We should confess to men as well:

James 5:16
Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.

Contex is in a church community, not to random people.

I will agree on the "random people" point; but it does not necessarily remain confined to within a congregational context. If your sin has a direct (or maybe indirect) negative impact on someone outside the church, you should confess to them as well.

My understanding of James 5 is that he is talking about within a community.
Yes one should confess, say sorry etc to those one hurts etc whether in a church situation or not.

But this is a church community. If it isn't it's doing a real good job of faking it. We're all Brothers and Sisters in Christ. Well, most of us are.

This is a community, but it is not a local church.
Over covid lock downs many of us ha to worship via zoom or you tube and found this a very poor substute for actually meeting together to encourage and be encouraged.

By being part of a local community one is an encouragement to others who know you, your situation, can share practically with you, this is all very difficult over the internet.

Well...Maybe so. Because the Lord wants us gather togetherr and worship Him corporately. So your point is well taken. But we had a corporate fast here one time that I remember, and that's pretty close!

But the forum is a community of sorts and we're all one Spirit.
