My life as a college student....lol

I can actually laugh over this now, but earlier, I was NOT laughing!

Today was the 3rd day of classes. The traffic is getting WORSE. I can't figure it out!!!

Class starts at 11:00. I left the house at 10:00. I got to the parking lot at 10:30. PLENTY of time. NOT.

BTW, I had to leave the kids at home. They haven't started school yet (Tomorrow...YAY!). Hubby was home, but was sleeping. He had the bedroom door open, so I figured they'd be fine. I gave them the lecture of not opening any doors, if anyone calls, tell them I'm busy....don't tell them I'm not home and that daddy is sleeping...., no playing with anything that plugs in, no makeup, no food, etc. Our house is small and one level, so it's not like he wouldn't be able to hear them if something happened.

That stupid school has too many people going there and not enough parking spaces. I had to park about 4 blocks away. I was late to class because I spent 30 minutes driving through every single parking lot there trying to find a space. About 300 other people were doing the same thing and that ended up causing a major traffic jam in the parking lots. There were absolutely NO parking spaces. I wasn't trying to park close either. I was at the FARTHEST ones there are. I ended up having to wait for the 10:55 classes to let out in order to get a space. (the 300 other people were having to do the same thing). It was like Christmastime fighting over spaces. I was finally able to squeeze my minivan into a tiny parking space. Why do they call them MINI in the first place? There's nothing mini about them when trying to pull them into a parking space that a tiny civic pulled out of and the cars on each side were about to smoosh the civic! AT that point, I didn't care WHO's car I scratched or who scratched mine. Thankfully, nobodys got scratched. But if they had, I really wouldn't have cared at this point.

So, I head to class RUNNING. Little, out of shape me was about to DIE. My calves were burning so bad that I could just visualize muscles ripping to pieces. I head the way I knew to go. Well go figure that they're doing construction and by time I get to the end, it's all gated with 8 foot chain link fencing. I wanted to cry by this time. Some other girl was behind me and she was pretty much in the same mood as me. We both wanted to cry. I ended up finding out she was headed to the same class. So, we're running around and have to take a MAJOR detour. We couldn't even talk by time we got to the class.

Class was ok. There are the typical ignorant talkers that have no business even being there. I've got good instructor though and she really got onto a few people and won't hesitate to throw them out. A lot of stuff we covered came back to me from the first time I took the class, so I feel better prepared this time and know what to expect.

I get out of class, and walk the several blocks to my van. "I'm finally getting the exercise that I've needed for a long time now" is what I kept telling myself so I wouldn't be mad at the world.

I call the kids as soon as I get on the highway, make sure everything is ok, no messes (so they said....grrrrr  ), tell them to get dressed and brush their teeth, etc.

Get home and walk into the house. Toys are EVERYWHERE. They had gotten into party bags that i had put away for birthday parties, party bag treats, etc. Oh, "but they were having a brithday party for their baby dolls" they said! As if that makes it ok. There were blankets, shoes, pillows, etc all over the place. Mommy was on the verge of going postal by this point!!!!

So, it's now 2:00. Just finished eating lunch and still have to go grocery shopping because I have nothing for their school lunches and they start school tomorrow (THANK YOU GOD!!!!!!!!!). I don't even have their backpacks ready or all the paperwork filled out (car rider info, emergency contact info, etc). Right now, I could really care less.

I've got to get them to my moms before 4:30 so I can grab a bite to eat before I have to leave a 5:00 for my evening class.

That's another thing!!! I had my first math class Monday night. I thought evenings would be a lot less crowded. HA!!! What a fool I was to think that. I left at 5:00 the other night. There were cops EVERYWHERE trying to direct traffic at the school, but somehow the traffic got so jammed up, that there was nowhere to direct them! I sat in line for almost an HOUR. I finally decided to risk getting a ticket and I drove on the wrong side of the road making cars have to pull over until I got to a parking lot that had some parking spaces avaliable. I didn't get to my 6:00 class until almost 6:30. There were some people that were OVER an hour late. They didn't arrive until after 7pm because they were stuck in the middle of the jam.

Now do you see WHY I hate the school I go to??!!!

geez! no fun!

that almost sounds like the first college I attended (part-time, as a high school student-- praise God it was AFTER HS...or I would've been late all the time!). I had to park about 5 miles from school and take a bus! (and the buses were ALWAYS full and running late!)... and the spaces in the parking lot were so small, I was always finding new scratches and dents on my car (at least it was a junky!). I feel for your crazyness!

It's been horrible. I only got 3 hours of sleep last night due to being up studying late and then my 7 year old waking me up before 5am wanting to know if it was time for school. Their first day back was today. I thought it would make things easier, but now I have to worry about being to their school all the way in another town after my 11-2 class. I was so stressed earlier that I had sat and cried. I think it's a combination of a new schedule, the constant driving back and forth, the overload of work and lack of sleep getting to me.

I'm now having to make cupcakes for my 5 year olds class tomorrow (she turns 6 tomorrow). All I want to do is go to bed. :crying: :crying: :crying:

Wow, you are one busy woman! I will offer some prayers your way... stress is no fun, especially at the beginning of the semester!

Does your husband know how to make cupcakes?

My husband has been working a ton of overtime. He works 3rd shift (13 hr shifts), so he sleeps all day. He has been great about suppers. I haven't cooked except once all week. He's been eating hot dogs and making homemade beenie weenies each night. The kids have been having chicken nuggets, sandwiches, or soup.

Next week should be much better though. Parking today at the school wasn't near as crazy as last week. I can't get over how many people have dropped classes so soon. We've lost about 10 students in my A&P class.

I'm LOVING my math class right now because I'm actually understanding it! I despise math. Numbers petrify me. I've got a great instructor and I think that makes all the difference.

Im so glad I live on campus, it is soo much better. I dont have to worry about parking, and its jsut great.

Carpooling may help.

also, isn't there a cell-phone law in your state?

The car is the ONLY place I can carry on a peaceful conversation. Cell phone use in the car is legal with an earpiece or speakerphone. I have an earpiece. :P

ahh ok lol. Same with in NYS (even though it still seems to cause problems)
