Hello, I'd like to take this opportunity to introduce myself.
My name is Jakob, I am 6'2" and I weigh 240lb. I have brown eyes, black hair, facial "chops", and a large frame. I played football in high school and consequentially have leg pain which is unexplainable.
I was going to join the Marines for two years and was blessed with the opportunity to attend pool functions but due to leg problems I was unable to pursue that part of my life.
I used to be a very large antagonist of God. I used to in my heart detest and despise God. Back in on December 23rd, 2008 I began a long process of trying to be transformed to the will of God. I do not know when I officially became a Christian, it could have been back in December since that's when my life started changing. Over the past few months I have undergone dramatic changes understanding the beauty of grace and having had a tremendous heart change.
I don't disclose my age on the internet often and I will share with you all my age after a certain point of faith and trust has been accrued.
I am now going to become a pastor, or at least that is the plan. I look forward to attending Capernwray Bible School in England in 2010 through 2011, assuming I am accepted.
I play guitar, I own a Schecter Hellraiser C-1, an Ibanez RG-370dx, and a Washburn acoustic for my own dilly-dallying purpose. I have played for four years, I have been in a few bands and played some shows here and there.
My favorite pastor might just be Mark Driscoll of Mars Hill Church in Seattle.
I am an avid fan of John MacArthur and John Piper as well. Pat Griffiths is a great pastor whom I enjoy listening to preach as well. And Charles Spurgeon was an incredible Bible scholar, and in my opinion John Calvin, even apart from Calvinism was the greatest Bible scholar and Pastor apart from the authors of the Bible themselves, but that's just my opinion, we all have favorites. I also enjoy Martin Luther.
I am a non-denominational Christian, I am a 4.5 Calvinist (Unlimited-Limited atonement,) I am highly reformed, I do not believe I am a dispensationalist because I have not studied that too deeply. But because of these beliefs do not believe I am going to be narrow-minded, bigoted, and offensive to anyone. Regardless if you believe you went to God, or God chose you, if you are a Christian you are a Christian and becoming separated as a body of Christ is sinful so I will avoid that as great as I can. However, I will not be a push over in my beliefs. As a result of my reformed views and my Calvinism belief I carry presuppositions which can not avoided to some degrees.
I am an avid believer of all five solas: sola scriptura, sola fide, sola gratia, solus Christus, and soli deo gloria (which I'd love to have as a tattoo personally.)
I have things of my faith I do not yet have opinions on yet, such as whether all spiritual gifts are active or not, my belief is that at the moment most are but a few are no longer necessary due to the completion of the Biblical canon. But if you believe otherwise that is perfectly okay and I will not pick a fight with you regarding that, it is your opinion just like mine is mine and I do not wish to debate while running in circles.
My favorite chapter of Scripture is Romans 6, my favorite book is Romans, my second is Ephesians and then perhaps Ecclesiastes. I love studying and reading my Bible. I as of lately have been doing immense meditation on the work of the cross and the prophecies foretold in Isaiah and Zechariah.
I do not believe in psychological counseling but rather Biblical counseling. I believe a lot of problems in peoples lives are the result of sin in their hearts which is a very common thing. I believe in all the points of saving grace, especially when it comes to the points of "regenerating grace."
I am a member of another Christian forum but I have been on there for four years and I am thinking my time there is coming to an end as I am drawing intolerant and tired of the poor administration there. Hopefully this place is a better atmosphere for Christians because I find that being a part of a Christian forum is good for accountability and fellowship.
Now that I have made perhaps one of the longest introductions I have ever written and perhaps you have seen I will close by displaying a photoshoped picture of myself.
There you go.
