I just got a new job offer :o

I would relocate for 2 years to a remote town in northern Canada , population 350-800.

Don't worry i will still have internet

The job is a bit of a step down from the Military and DNR but it would be my first full time job.

And.. i can bring my dog :-D

You may still have internet, but boy does dial up stink

What in the world would you be doing?

LOL yeah.

believe it or not i would be a store clerk :o Like i said its a big step, i go from shooting and blowing up stuff to can a help you find some groceries :-?

I always loved the North and the thought of living up there for 2 years gets me all excited.

But because of the companies relocation program my accommodation is pretty much free and they pay for food. I would be making a mere 12$ an hour but because its full time i would make a lot more then i did in the Military and DNR.

One place i am looking at is Fort Laird in the Northwest territories http://www.fortliard.com/index.htm This place is small with a population of about 550. It is VERY beautiful and there is plenty to do when i am not working, i can go rock hounding because this place has many fossils, i can hunt and fish, the seasons are REAL, hot summers and cold winters non of this thick fog crap i get ware i live now . and as a bonus there is wolves there, lol i love wolves alot and they have been eradicated ware i live.

the hard part is going to be having all my gear on this plane

DVD player plus movie assortment
PC, minus monitor, keyboard, mouse speakers (that is too much to bring, i will buy wjhen i get there then ship back)
Snowshoes, Hiking poles, Binoculars, spotting scope, Geology gear (hammer, chisel, brush etc etc) I like to hike/camp/ rock hound.
GPS, Camera, Itouch etc etc

All the above will have to fit on that plane plus the pilot plus me and plus my Dog and all his gear. :o

We are gonna play tetris with my gear in the airplane, lol

Wow! Fort Liard sounds like my kind of place :D

12 bucks an hour doesn't sound to bad for being a store clerk. I know that things cost a little bit more in Canada than they do in the states, but 12 bucks an hour doesn't sound like it's a bad wage, and I'm surprised that it's more than you made in the military.

I used to have a shepherd / timberwolf mix and he was the best dog ever! I don't want to get into the details of why I had to give him away, (circumstance unrelated to my dog) but it was hard to let him go. I'd take him in the mountains of Norther Idaho and he was right at home! One day he saw a deer and man, he was off like a flash! Currently I've got a lab/shepherd mix and he's become quite the expert on chasing down deer when he's got a hunting mate. That's one reason we don't have two dogs anymore.

I'm just wondering how your dog will handle an encounter with another pac of wolves if they stray into his territory, or if your out and about digging fossils. Have you heard of any stories? I'm thinking out in the wild your pup would do fine because wolves will normally just show their dominance with other dogs by taking them down, and don't go after the kill unless they are pushed into it. But if they stray onto your property, what's your dog going to do? Will he submit?

Sorry to hear about your dog there, a shep/wolf mix sounds like a great dog, i used to have a wolf/husky mix can you say SMART :o

My shep is house trained so when i am at work he is home sleeping on the couch, lol so the wolves should not bug him.

And as for hiking in wolf (and bear) territory i carry a shotgun/bear spray just in case.

The Military was only part time, the pay system is different half day at my rank is 50$ a half day is 6 hours or less. 120$ for 6 hours plus.
