God has a plan. However, we choose to think that that plan is for our own good. In many ways, it is. However, "our" is a debatable term. "Our" can be interpreted as you, and I, or any one single person. However, I have recently come to realize that "our" is a term that applies to God's creation, Man. And when you find out what God has in store for us, the word "good" may come at a very high cost.
Since our creation, we've struggled to find meaning in why we are here, our purpose for living. At the same time, we have struggled to live in a world that is slowly but surely growing ever more hostile, hateful, manipulative, and deceiving. Looking back only 50 years, and comparing that to the way we live today, its easy to see an ever progressing move towards the perversions that corrupt us. Rape, murder, stealing, lying, war, greed, frustration, fear, contempt... there are thousands of words to describe our bad sides, but only one true word that can describe our potential for good, and that is love. Today, I find myself reflecting on how incapable I have become of allowing myself to love, and its lead me to think about the cause.
Our perversion as a collective is a sickness. With each generation that sickness grows stronger and more destructive. Great Grandpa used to hit Great Grandma, so our Grandparents became strict and overpowering, leading to parents who drowned their pasts with drugs and alcohol, leading to their children, us, who take that influence and pass it to our children. You hear of people being "predisposed"
to addiction and other negative psychological traits. You hear of homosexuals who are a product of molestation and abuse. You hear of kids killing other kids based on uncontrollable anger and selfish issues such as revenge. Pornography used to be simply women dressed in lingerie, looking back at the Playboy magazines of the 60's. Today, you see women and men from all across the globe having sex with animals, and children, and even self-mutilation of their bodies in order to satisfy some primal and uncontrollable urge. The internet has not made this any better, and in fact is one of the worst possible catalysts to this form of corruption. Do a search online for Bestiality, Preteen, body modification, self mutilation, and so on. You don't even need to venture into the more cynical of perversions to see the overal corruption of man. Look at any normal pornography site, or for that fact, any Media-related site... and tell me what one thing they all have in common? The vanity of breast implants, and other forms of beautification for the purpose of appeasing to only one realistic audience, the ever growing perverted expectations and demands of man. Whether it's a woman who wants to feel more "womanly", and wants to change her A-cup to a C, or if it's the older woman who wants to stay young, these are all superficial mentalities that are a product of a society that focuses on the superficial simply because it takes everything else for granted.
But not everyone is a perver, so to say. There are those who struggle their entire lives to make something of themselves, to earn income and establish themselves as a person of worth. But for that man who feels he needs to prove himself better than someone else, is a product of a world that is based on greed and power. And what happens to the man who struggles his whole life to rise above the others? He dies of a heart attack or cancer, he beats his wife and his children, or even worse, he physically degrades the people that he is supposed to love by matching the anger inside of him through perverse and corrupt behavior. Each of all the possible forms of corruption and perverions within mankind is a drug borne upon us to numb the pain that we feel based on the sickness that has been passed down to us. Each of these drugs drives us further from being capable of our purpose: Love.
For some time now I've struggled to find my faith in God. All of the people with theories about aliens, shamelessly spreading their misguided opinions to the world through widespread media is one reason. Another reason is because of the inconsistencies with the Bible and science, causing questions about evolution versus creation. I've doubted God's existence time and time again, only to look up and blame him when things go wrong, or to beg for his guidance when the choices in life become hard. I've looked my Christian friends in the face and challenged their beliefs, questioning the Bible, questioning our creation, questioning questioning questioning. I truly believe that it is the fact that I, and the world as a collective, have found such comfort in the need to question everything, that we've all become too literal to the effect that I think we've missed the point.
It's been proven that there were meetings held by the church to decide upon what went into the Holy Bible. It's been proven that things have been rewritten and altered to apply more abstractly to a wide mass of people. There are other gospels that have been left out of the Bible. There are things that are not revealed to us, and it all stems back to the perversion of man. If man truly knew what God gave to us in the miracles of the old and new testament, it would threaten the understanding of, and quite possibly the necessity for, the church. However, there is no better form of control than by playing on the fears of man; and he who controls that fear, has the power.
That same fact is still applicable today. Nuclear bombs and Weapons of Mass Destruction, they are all fear tactics that all result in one thing: power. Whoever has them has the power, and whoever doesn't lives in fear. This results in an ever growing conflict between our countries based on the need to nullify this fear. We don't want to live in fear, so we start bombing those who threaten us. We go on with our lives, and go on vacation, drink and eat expensive foods, and live a life of luxury when there are poverty stricken and emaciated people starving to death in the streets of their villages. We are one end of the spectrum, and the emaciated and dying are on the other. Those in between are the ones who are struggling to avoid becoming the emaciated, while looking at people like us living the life of luxury. And when the people in the middle of the spectrum threaten our way of life (through terrorist acts and the like), we seek out to conquer and destroy them. There is no equality in this world, be it financial, racial, economical, or even rational. All the while the population on Earth grows, and grows and grows.
The poor breed like rabbits, and the rich tend to minimize their offspring. The poor rely upon the government to support them, while the rich condemn the poor depleting the resources of the government, when they are the ones responsible for enabling and providing them with their way of life. I even found myself having a real thought a few months back that we would all be better off if we could sterilize those of poverty in third world countries. I figured we should send them care packages of food and water, laced with a form of chemical neutering. My thought was if they can't reproduce, they don't make their situations any worse, and we don't have to afford them any of our resources; thus enabling our government to maintain it's stability. Thinking about it now, I realize that I am wrong, and that my thought was really a product of contempt and hatred for things that I didn't understand. I even had another thought that we shouldn't burden the mentally and physically challenged with life, and do away with them at birth. More specifically, do away with those who would be considered "retarded" and incapable of leading what I considered a traditionally "productive" life. My rationalization was that they were a burden on society, and that they contributed next to nothing to our economy. Our Economy...
