How about sacrificing a few virgins later?

Maybe a chicken on the BBQ grill?

Torturing children with Santa?

Anything?

Does Jeremiah 10:1-5 show that we should not have a Christmas tree in celebration of Christmas?
The decorated tree in Jeremiah 10 is not a Christmas tree since Christmas did not exist back then. What we do see in that passage is a warning from Yahweh to not learn the way of the heathen. The modern Christmas tree is rooted in paganism as can be seen in the following excerpt from a secular website. They have no axe to grind. (No pun intended).

Long before the advent of Christianity, plants and trees that remained green all year had a special meaning for people in the winter. Just as people today decorate their homes during the festive season with pine, spruce, and fir trees, ancient peoples hung evergreen boughs over their doors and windows. In many countries it was believed that evergreens would keep away witches, ghosts, evil spirits, and illness.

In the Northern hemisphere, the shortest day and longest night of the year falls on December 21 or December 22 and is called the winter solstice. Many ancient people believed that the sun was a god and that winter came every year because the sun god had become sick and weak. They celebrated the solstice because it meant that at last the sun god would begin to get well. Evergreen boughs reminded them of all the green plants that would grow again when the sun god was strong and summer would return.

The ancient Egyptians worshipped a god called Ra, who had the head of a hawk and wore the sun as a blazing disk in his crown. At the solstice, when Ra began to recover from the illness, the Egyptians filled their homes with green palm rushes which symbolized for them the triumph of life over death.

Early Romans marked the solstice with a feast called the Saturnalia in honor of Saturn, the god of agriculture. The Romans knew that the solstice meant that soon farms and orchards would be green and fruitful. To mark the occasion, they decorated their homes and temples with evergreen boughs. In Northern Europe the mysterious Druids, the priests of the ancient Celts, also decorated their temples with evergreen boughs as a symbol of everlasting life. The fierce Vikings
in Scandinavia thought that evergreens were the special plant of the sun god, Balder. History.com
So what is the reason for your Christmas tree? It has absolutely nothing to do with Christ. It is not commanded by Yahweh or Yeshua. It was not a practice of the early believers. Let's face it, you have been duped by merchants who make big bucks off of the sales of "religious" goods. Easter bunnies, Christmas lights, wreaths, holiday cards, Christmas presents, and over a billion dollars in Christmas tree sales each year in the U.S alone. Those who celebrate the man-made holiday called "Christmas" have learned the ways of the heathen well. The sad thing about it is that in their attempt to justify their pagan practices, they will portray Christmas opponents as grinches and scrooges. Even sadder than that is how Christians, who know full well how the Almighty feels about lying, have no problem lying to their children about Santa Claus and "Jesus" being born on December 25.

The custom comes from there and to get new mew members into the early Catholic church this custom was allowed in, so this is where we get it from today.

Exactly. In order to get new members into the church, they accepted their pagan practices and polluted the church. Yahweh is calling His people to put away heathen practices and worship Him in truth. We don't have to contribute to the promotion of these pagan practices by continuing in the lies we inherited from our ancestors (Jeremiah 16:19).

Well people today don't worship the tree it is only used as a celebratory way for the birth of Christ even though He was not born on December the 25th.

Christmas is a good time to share your love for Jesus with others.
It is quite conceivable that they just may be listening to you at Christmas time then at any other time.
Any day is a good day to bring joy to a person's life.
Does Jesus care it's a pagan holiday or does he want us to overcome that with love for one another?
For any Christian that loves Jesus, there should be more love radiating from us then anything else because there is nothing else more important than that.

Believers today can witness about Yeshua and spread love and joy at this time of year without adopting pagan practices or lying to our children.

I put up outside lights and a tree because I like looking at the stuff, pagan worship of the tree never comes into mind.

When you say lying are you talking about Santa ?

Your words tell it all. Why not celebrate his birth in the Fall when he was really born? Why celebrate it with a tree and giving gifts to others instead of to him. He desires our gift of remaining unspotted from the world.

I can see a big grumpy face on you as you say that.
