My Tree Is Up

When you say lying are you talking about Santa ?
That and about Dec 25 being his birthday or the lying manger scenes where the wise men view him in his manger. By the time they found him he was in a house (Mt 2:11).

Here's one of Reba's trees at one of her vacation cottages.

Wow reba buddy ole pal, can you send me a plane ticket ? Can I borrow the Rolls

Over the past 50 years....
Fewer and fewer people say "Merry Christmas" without thinking today than they did then.
The feelings of needing to give everyone a present of some kind is slowly dying.
Of course fewer and fewer people decorate their homes as well for the annual celebration.
Even more rapidly dying is Easter celebration.

Pretty soon, if the next fifty years goes like the last fifty it will barely register that we were ever a Christian nation.

I celebrate for all I'm worth...but it feels like blowing into the wind to try and change its direction.

So when someone celebrates with a tree....I'm happy. Of course someone will pipe up that they believe that we are celebrating on the wrong day (total nonsense but whatever)

It's up to us to encourage and lead the young families in going crazy for Christ despite the cost of being labeled or pigeon holed or lambasted as being a hypocrite...to stand boldly for Christ in the hopes He will stand up for us when we need him the most.

Yup there is only 5 families on my block with the lights outside. Years ago it would have been mostly every house. And the younger people just don't do it. It is people like me who is 60, and older still doing this. It is because I was raised doing this.

You know.... There is a way of fixing this. Maybe not the whole world but at least your corner of it.
Offer to help, including their children with setting up lights and decorations. Give out home made treats to everyone. Offer to host a cookie swap.
Lots of things like that get the young families involved and started on their own traditions.
