me me me!! I am. I ONLY however talk to ppl that I know (or , say are in a class of mine, that I just havent met yet.)

I have turned down requests to be friends with prolly 100 girls from all over the us (usually age 13-16..) idunno why, I am not attractive but whatever,.
 
I've never even heard of it, but then again, that's not saying much coming from me.

I only have like 9 friends though. Most are people from high school. My 14 year old niece is the main one I talk to on there.
 
Actually... I just found out that my kid was using it. Now, I run a silent little program from DBAN and the results will determin if my kid will be banned from the internet or not...

In short, I am amazed how a group of good kids can become corrupt by such little influence...
 
stove.. is this a keylogger? or what?

I remember my dad tried to install keystroke monitoring programs on my computer, to try to see what I was doing. But, ya, I am computer literate, so.. I definately killed all those proccess's lol..

How old is your kid? My sister was concerned about my niece using it, but is completely computer illiterate. So, I keep an eye on her. There are things I want to get her to remove (like her last name). Teens think there's no way something bad could happen to them.

There are some BAD mouthed kids that she talks to, but she's got a good head on her shoulder and isn't like that. She uses dorky terms like "heezy fo sheezy". :lol:
 
About a month ago I found out the youth minister and alot of the youth from our old church use it. I went to the church 'rock group' link and clicked on it, which took me to the myspace.com link.
What I found was shocking....In one picture one of the boys from the church was flipping a bird at the camera, while holding what looked to be a joint in the other hand.
Most confessed to being drunk at one time or another...and it goes on and on. I must have read and looked at pictures an hour.
My son just informed me that he made himself a website, I made him post the link on 'favorites' so I can access it anytime. We've had enough problems with him and the internet already.
No matter how good you think your kids are, they usually change when they get with their peers.
Sherlock Holmes is the name of the game.
 
But freedom to a point is always good. Sometimes I agree that things should be monitored, But, I myself kept an online journal, for myself and my friends, and if my mom had read, I would have been pretty upset. (she would have too) nothing bad I was really doing, just complainign about things she was doing etc.. so ya..

But do keep an eye, there are the occasional nuts on myspace.

as I think I already said, younger girls for some reason are attracted to these older guys, not for a real relationship, but for like, idunno so they feel better about themselves. so, if you have a 13-16 year old daughter (which btw, you have to be 16+ to use it i believe, so they jsut lie abotu their age) monitor who they talk to...

Yeah, it's a great keylogger with a very detailed encrypted report that shows screen shots, and every key that was typed in every application as well as both sides to any IM transaction. Actually, it's a pretty good report :-D


Nice thing about it, is you can install it so it won't show up in processes so you have to do a bit more than go to the task manager and click on the running processes. (BTW, there is another windows util that will show it, but ya gotta be a tech to know about it :-D )


Nikki, she just turned 14 (and said she was 18) What scares me is that any fruitcake can search by location and in a small town like mine, that's just plain scary if you know what I mean.

I don't think the site is bad, but I will certainly monitor what my kid does on it just because it's so easy for them to get swayed in the wrong direction.

hehe stove, I am a computer science major, and have been workin on alot of pc security stuff for a while now. Pretty sure I could find it, If I had admin rights (or atleast a little bit of rights) on a pc :-P

ORIGINAL STORY
There have been little or no leads regarding Aschliee's disappearence. The one lead Police officials do have is that it is believed she may have been abducted by a 40 year old man from Pennsylvania that she corresponded with on the internet.
Aschliee was known to spend a lot of time in internet chatrooms and while her parents were aware of her net usage they, like many others, never imagined she could be chatting to older males and arranging possible meetings.

Her father Michael Everett stated: "My biggest concern is whoever she's with, is not letting her call. My daughter would call and say, 'Daddy, I'm fine,' and she's not calling me."

Elyria detectives aren't sure whether Aschliee is still in the area or in Pennsylvania. They're working with Philadelphia police to track down the 40-year-old, known only as "Mike."

The case is still being investigated.

peace4all, I don't know why you laugh at being defiant in doing what you did. Your dad was looking out for your best interest and you disrepected him and now you mock him by laughing at what you did. :o
Do you think by telling everyone what you did and then laughing at it as if it is no big deal is being a good example to others?

The funny thing is that rat is all we had to eat....
