Do you have 3 favorite books in the New Testament?
I chose 3, as, perhaps naming only one would be very difficult for a bible loving Christian.
Even 3 may be cutting it thin.
For me, i choose the Gospel of John, Romans, and Colossians., tho i could substitute Galatians for Romans as they are sort of direct supplements to each other.
The Gospel of John never fails to fascinate me.
I can read the first 14 verses of the 1st chapter as if i am drinking spiritual honey using my soul.
And then it just gets better
For my money this gospel is so full of the living Christ that it just drips his blood off of the pages.
Its a mystical and almost surreal part of the Bible in my opinion.
Its just so unique and beautiful and profound.
Ive read that the call of an Evangelist is often deeply associated with this Gospel.
Im one, and I love this book, so just maybe.............;)
Romans for me... and Galatians, are so special because in those 2 books God >through Jesus >through Paul... is showing you the perfect inner workings of faith, righteousness by faith, and how it works and why it works.
No other books in the bible doctrinally nail down the blood of Christ's imputed gift of righteousness, and the Faith that generates it, like those 2 books.
Those two books eliminate heresy regarding the atonement and how you get it and how its given and why.
Then there is Colossians.
What a stunning piece of bible.
What a powerful spiritual jewel this little letter is...
This letter always convicts me and guides me and spills out for me exactly what God expects of me.
Its a book which is spiritually aimed at establishing in you true discipleship, and it clearly defines the light-path we are to faith walk.
If your holiness needs a boost, then drink deeply from Colossians for a while anytime you are dry and need a refreshing.
Its a uniquely special letter surrounded by a lot of other special ones, but for me, Colossians is extra special...
As a matter of fact, i got my life verse out of Colossians....which is Colossians 1:10.
