Natural Talent

Name one natural talent you wish you had

Music! I know a little bit of guitar but I wish I have the talent on piano.<O:p</O:p

I can sing already, so I'm told :clap but I really wish I could play guitar. I inherited my husband's guitar when he died, right now it collects dust in my closet. My son who is 3 and a half and doesn't really remember daddy, brought it to me the other day, all I could manage was Skip to my Lou on ONE string lol. :lol

Something to practice I guess

I can't sing, play guitar, piano, violin, or harmonica. And I desperately want to. I have a keyboard that I need to dust off and the Dummies book for it, and I'm going to give it another go this summer. My church does offer performing arts classes in the summer and beginner's keyboard is one of the things listed. But you have to pay, and I'm a broke college student.

I also want to be able to draw and paint. I want to be able to finish the stories I've started writing. I want to be able to wink and whistle.

I'd love to paint... big, bold, splashy oil paintings... however, it's a bit too spendy a hobby for our circumstances.

Two things, I guess:

1) I wish I could draw.

2) I wish I could exercise the patience to use such drawing skill I may already have.

PS: A third comment would be, it's hard sometimes to figure the difference between 1) and 2).

Eloquence with words. I often find myself at a loss of words when I wish I had something inspiring or encouraging to say.

To you all who wish to be better at playing/drawing, do it! Talent makes you okay in the beginning but practice makes you a master in the end. I don't really believe much in "talent" myself.

I second this. The biggest secret to drawing well is practice. Lots and lots of practice. To paraphrase something Lauren Faust (FiM's producer for the first season and a half) has said in her FAQs, "think of it as you have to get thousands of mediocre drawings out of your system before you get to the good ones."

"In most domains, talent is overrated compared to determination—partly because it makes a better story, partly because it gives onlookers an excuse for being lazy, and partly because after a while determination starts to look like talent."
~Paul Graham

You'll find that just about any artist's early art was chicken scratch, especially compared to what they can do now.

I wish I could sing. Now, I do sing all day long in my work van, but I'm afraid the other drivers don't appreciate my angelic voice.
