So, I am getting close to finally biting the bullet and switching cell phone carriers. I am seriously thinking about going with T-Mobile, who offers to pay your termination fees, and have a rather reasonably priced plan that includes unlimited talk, text, and data.

The bigger decision is whether to go with an android or windows phone. (notice I didn't include iphone in that list?:wink)

So, which is really the better phone they are offering?

The Samsung Galaxy S5
The LG G3
The Nokia Lumia 635

The first two are android, and the last one is windows.

What are you going to use it for?

Do you love apps, do you want a great camera, do you want security.

I guess it really depends on who will be using it. My wife, I know, would love to replace her point-and-shoot camera with a camera phone. The one she has at the moment is 7.1 megapixels. I did find another phone (samsung, I think) that has Ultrapixels (no idea what that means), but from the description it appears you can do quite a bit with the camera on that phone.

I guess I am leaning toward android as there is a bigger app market for that than windows.

T-Mobile has rather limited coverage in our area.

They have somewhat limited coverage in ours as well, however, it looks to be better than Sprint. Also, they have a new feature that if you have a wifi enabled phone you can make calls via wifi. I have to check into it a bit more, but the way it looks is that it basically just connects through your existing wifi router. That would totally eliminate the coverage problems I have in my home, plus I would finally be able to jump into the realm of a smartphone user.

Ok, I updated the poll to ask the real question. Android or Windows.

I'd generally say go for Android over Windows Phone unless you're after a fantastic camera, then you could consider the Nokia Lumina, but the Samsung Galaxy cameras are fantastic too. You don't want to be left high and dry with the apps.

Everybody here should know me by now. If you want security and no viruses, then stay away from a windows phone or windows anything. For the sake of this conversation, as opposed to something you download, a virus = any software you did not have to consciously download; it did it itself.

Android has a Linux kernal which is free from virus malware. To place an analogy, I'd have to look long and hard to find anyone with Android with said viruses, about the same probability as knowing someone who was in a fatal plane crash. But with MS, well, it's not IF but WHEN all their planes crash. I heard of someone with an MS phone with 2 viruses and I did not have to look hard or far to find them.
