New and Confused

Hi all,
I am a relatively new born again Christian, about 2.5 years ago I found the Lord, and I am still learning alot.

I've recently discovered that I have a couple spiritual gifts, just last year I had no idea what that even was, but now, I have a discernment ability which is sometimes very overwhelming to deal with.

I actually signed up for this forum specifically to ask for advice regarding this issue.

When I was living "in the world", I had no idea what evil really was, now that I love the light, I see the dark clearly, and very very often in people. I believe I actually even seen 2 angels one day in church. I'm also sensing evil spirits (demons??) and have seen a few really weird things this past year.

It's a long story, but I guess I have to start somewhere.

Sometimes, the gifts we receive can seem overwhelming. It's because those gifts change our lives, our perspectives in such a way that can be quite the opposite of what we knew before becoming Christians.

Stay in prayer, and continue to read & study scripture so you are moving forward in strength and love for our Lord!

Hey, and welcome to CFnet.

I don't know much about the spiritual gifts, so I can't help you there. Keep posting, and other, more seasoned Christians--like AirDancer--will help you out. We have a lot going on here, so there's other stuff you can post on, threads to read, etc. etc. I hope you stick around.

Hi, I have had a few experiences when I was a new Christian that I no longer talk about.
I found that most people were not interested, as though maybe they didn't believe it.
But as you continue to grow closer to Jesus through constant prayer and a very zealous desire to know what God has for us all in the Bible, you will no doubt find much greater revelations.
Take what God gives you now, praise him always and learn by everything.
Stay close to him and he will never stop giving you more.
Soon you will be teaching others.

Dear Brother flamingsword, welcome to CF.net. There are many new things we are introduced to in our walk with Christ, and much of it will become known through the word of God. I quote the following scripture.
Heb 1:1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
Heb 1:2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds.

Exactly how does Jesus do this being that He was physically limited in His presence upon this earth among us?
Gal 1:11 But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.
Gal 1:12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

I do believe that in addition to the common thought of angels we read of in Heb 13:2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares, there is the idea these are always created angels. If we look at Strong’s Concordance we find that the word “Angel” is interpreted as “Messenger”, and can also be even a pastor or other in Christ that He sends to us for our good.

Such a one was sent to the Apostle John in Rev 1:1 noted by Jesus as His angel below.
Rev 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:. What did the angel say of himself?
Rev 19:10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

In Christ, you will continue to grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord as He works in you to will, and to do of His good pleasure. Php 2:13.

Prayer with fasting and handing everything over into God's hands through Christ is working well for some people. I tend to offer that as a suggestion sometimes. It certainly is helping me.
I, too, have experienced some things over the years. They say "Seeing is believing." Sometimes believing can, I suppose lead to seeing.
My conversion started by seeing.
I will share that story another day. Right now, supper's in the oven and I would like to check into this place a bit more thoroughly prior to signing off for the evening.

I hope to make a few comments.
Jesus was faced with a temptation from satan. He finally told him to begone (satan misused scripture that identified the evil one). Satan comes as a roaring lion. God comes often as a still small voice.

We have our senses trained by experience to discern (Google for scripture or I will look it up for you).

You might look at the learning experience as a phone call. If you have satan making the call - - hang up. All this is a learning experience. Eugene was headed in a good direction with advice.

Learn to know the source of spiritual experiences.
