Did anyone else here see the colourful inauguration of the Ugandan who's been so popular in Birmingham, on BBC2 11.15am till 1.30pm?
By the time you read this, evening news @ http://www.ucb.co.uk may run a feature & post it @ their sit- http://www.ucb.co.uk/christiannews
As a Pentecostal, I was delighted with the joyful exuberance of the African dancers
As a songwriter, I was impressed with both his drumming & his musical arrangement of the Te Deum
As a keen creative evangelist, I was thrilled with his passionate & timely encouragement to all Christians to make friends with folk of other faiths & of no faith at all
& as a Bible scholar, I welcome his choice of both spoken & sung exhortations to study the Scriptures daily & deeply
I was surprised that none of the Christian news emails I got today made any reference to this strategic evangelical appointment & to the TV opportunity
Do pray for tonight's news bulletins
This joyful, humble & very able man of God will be a great encouragement to many
I'm sorry I could find no online Christian report @ 4.55pm to check how to spell Archbishop John's surname
I'll end with a thought that hit me on reading the John 5 (?) account of Andrew & friend being sent by John the Baptist to follow Christ, then Andrew's keeness to tell his brother
Today's UK culture may well look blank if we use the same words Andrew did to share with our family, friends, neighbours & colleagues, etc - how many unchurched folk would know what "the Messiah/the Christ" means?
But we can truthfully tell them that Jesus is the Sole Soul Supplier of the quality of love, joy, peace, etc that each & every human needs & craves so much, yes?
God bless!
Ian
