New Church Logo, Website re-launch

I was on a committee to come up with a new church logo and theme. We came up with "Growing God's Family" and a logo representing growth and family.

A company out of the Houston area called FaithSpan designed the physical logo based very closely on our concept sketches we sent them and I think they really captured the vibe and essence of what we were trying to convey. We kept it simple and should work nicely on T-shirts, mugs, pins, refrigerator magnets, newspaper ads, etc.

And subsequently once the logo was designed I got to re-do our website based on the logo. See what you think:

BTW: the animation on the upper right of the header is not JAVA, it's a small .gif that matches the rest of the header which is a .jpg (on most monitors anyway). I've gotten several suggestions on this board about avoiding java when possible, so a gif worked well I think

Great Job. I like the logo and color scheme. The menu buttons are unique, the shadowing was a great idea. You church is blessed to have you as their webmaster. God bless all of your endeavors.

Viewed at 1028 by 768 there is a lot of empty space on the right in my browser, but that is no big deal. Have you ever tried experimenting with centering the site?

Good job Lake.

LOL, for some reason, I always check out the properties on bnanners and such. I saw it was a .gif. Clever. BTW, in my browser (IE6), all gifs. No jpgs.

Also, your 'verse of the day'... Is that manually or automatically updated? I like that idea, but would like to find a way to automate it if I ever did it. I am a novice at this but am a quick learner.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

The daily verse is totally automated.

If you dig around Heartlight.org, they have all sorts of devotionals and such that they update daily for use on websites--they send you a few lines of code you can just paste into your site and their server does the rest as far as content goes. Customize a few things in the code like background color, size, font, etc. and you're all set. It's pretty easy to configure and a nice touch in my opinion.
