New forum question

You can also view a person's profile and select "Add to Ignore List" on the left, just under their avatar.

All of the sudden I cannot send anything to Pard.

Butt seriously...

I am curious as to what does adding someone to your ignore list do? I am guessing it blocks them from sending you PM's or email, but does it also block you from seeing their posts in the threads? There are a few people here I would just not want to listen to anymore, and I am sure the feeling is mutual.

And here I thought it was me he wanted to block. :D

I have never blocked anyone, so I honestly can't tell you from any personal experience what it does. I think it does prevent them from seeing all of your posts, but I think if someone quotes you then they can see it in the quoted post. Maybe Pard can tell us the specifics after he blocks whoever it is he wants to block. :)

I don't block people simply because I believe that all individuals have valid things to say. There are some people who I disagree with on 99% of their posts, but that 1% of the time is good enough for me. Even the worst of people have some absolute gems at times. If I blocked all the people throughout the years who I disagreed with, or who is clashed with personality wise, or who rubbed me the wrong way, then I'd have missed out on knowing some awesome individuals. :yes If someone is vile or stalks you and posts demeaning things at you, or does other things, then you can always report posts on an individual basis and allow the moderators to take care of the individual.

If someone is on your Ignore list, his posts will not show, but it will show that he has made a post. It will say "This message is hidden because UserName is on your ignore list. " There is a link that will show the post if you still want to read it, and another that allowes you to take someone off your ignore list. I'm not sure how the new system works, but on the old forum software, they could still send you PMs.

No I didn't ignore you guys. Micheal you cannot send things to me because for some reason the new system requires that you be friends with the person in question if you want to PM them. Click my name and there should be an "add" or something
:thumbsup

PR, normally I would agree with you, but we are to cut out the things in our lives that cause us to stumble, right? So that is what I am doing.

And right, like Theo said, their posts come up as they posted, but you cannot see what they said unless you opt to "Show post"

You should be able to change that in your settings also. Look in your settings under general options and see if your PMs is checked to receive from all members or if it is from contact and moderators only. (Michael could also check his.)

Good point. :thumbsup That would certainly be a valid reason to block someone.
