Hey everyone.

My name is Dodge (aka David) and I'm from Georgia. I just recently found God and already He has done great things in my life.

I also want to start reading the bible, but I don't know where to start. Any suggestions? I hope to learn from and perhaps contribute a little to these forums. I hope to see you all around.

In Christ,
David

Hello David~ :waving

Welcome to the family of Jesus Christ! What a wonderful blessing to hear that our Lord is adding to His church daily those who are being saved! Marvelous news! :biglol

You and I can thank God David, for He has been so amazing in His mercy! So much more than His offering humanity the mercy to allow us to live out our miserable lives without destroying us instantly... God has chosen us to become great and to be glorified by the blood of His Son. We believers find ourselves hidden in Christ~ and we learn to enjoy now the fruits of God's mercy. So grow in His grace, and in the knowledge of Him...

May you find discipleship among the men here at CFnet, and may our Lord guide you by His Spirit into all truth, and into the fullness of Christ. :thumb

The book of John in the New Testiment is a very good place to begin, Rick's advise is solid! :approve After John... I would suggest that you read thru the New Testiment before you start in the Old Testiment. Because the New explains and reveals the Old. :D

Happy to be your sister in Jesus... bonnie

Welcome! I am also from Ga! :approve

Anyway, I suggest reading any of the gospels and them Acts..

(I love that book :study )

Anyway.. I hope you enjoy your time here! If you have any questions during your read, make sure you don't let them go unanswered! Ask them here!

Welcome to CF.net, Dodge. I and my fiance are down here in GA too. I'd be glad to talk with you if you'd like, just shoot me a private message.

Thanks so much everyone. I'll begin reading John as soon as I can. In fact, I think I'll make time to. I've already begun Romans. I appreciate all the advice.

I thank God everyday for coming into my life and for helping me get through the toughest times in my life. I don't know what I ever did without Him.

In Christ,
David

I usually suggest John and Romans anyway, so you are of to a good start. John is the gospel which best explains why Jesus came. Romans is the epistle which best explains what we believe and why. You can't go wrong if you start with those two books.

I would say Acts is a great third book because it shows how the church grew. However, regardless of the order, Reading scripture at all is a good thing.

I've already learned alot from it. I've started marking chapters and verses that I find meaningful.

There's so much to read. I'll probably start reading a little every night before I go to bed. I just don't know how much I'll read. Probably just a chapter or two.

That's a great start David. Just keep at it, before you know it you may want to read three and four chapters just because you want to know what God's word says. :)

I'm already there, I think. I started reading John with the intention of reading just a few chapters, but I ended up finishing it and making inroads into Acts.

Yay! Acts! :lol

I'm really not THAT obsessed with the book.. I just like alot of the conflicts and how God used Paul to resolve them.. They completely inspired me.

I sadly have never picked up the hobby of marking in my bible. I do it when our pastor asks us to.. But otherwise, the marks become more of a distraction then a help.. I'm weird I guess. :screwloose
