New here and not sure where I stand in the question of religion

Hello all! I am 18 years old and live in sweden. My parents are both muslims, but I myself am nothing, and have been nothing all my life. I really can not decide where i stand in this question. So I created this account and thread to ask you what the benefits are with christianity. I guessed that a forum would have more subjectively thougts, rather than an information site.

Hi MegaMormor, welcome!
Just go to the "general talk" area and start asking questions.
There are lots of people that can and will give you answers.

Hello and welcome! :wave

From what you've said, I'd say you're agnostic, which seems to be a position of not being sure, being open and searching. If you firmly do not believe there is a god, then you would be an atheist.

I hope you jump right in to some discussions! As has already been said, the General Talk forum is always a good place to start. If you want to ask specific questions about Christianity, then I would suggest the Question for Christians forum, which is a sub-forum of Apologetics & Theology.

Hi and welcome.

I am wondering if you know the reaction of Muslims to those who leave, or even think of, leaving Islam?

I think you need to ask around a bit and get a sense of what it is you are embarking on.

I understand Sweden to be a tolerant society so I myself may not fully appreciate the social and cultural implications involved.

But to you question - what are the benefits of Christianity?

I am not sure of what you might mean by 'benefits'. You might elaborate in due course.

However, may I offer some 'differences' between Islam and Christianity - at the practical level.

YOu don't need to pray five times a day or wash yourself every time you might want to think of God. You do need to memorize scripture not wear special clothes. If you are a male you don't need to get circumcised. You don't need to go to a church at a special time on a particular day - in fact you don't 'need' to do anything much at all.

You see, Christianity is about freedom. Jesus, said that we are free from such restrictions and constrictions. We are free to worship how we think best. The only thing we, as Christians, have been told to do is love the Lord our God with all our heart, with all our soul, and with all our mind, and with all our strength. Jesus said, 'This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: you shall love your neighbour as yourself'.

That's it. You don't 'have' to do anything.
