Gets clearer all the time. But your guy has it backwards; there were ground-dwelling mammals and transitional mammals before there were dinosaurs. And that's not news to anyone who was paying attention.

There was even one large predatory mammal that could have preyed on small dinosaurs.

Skimming the literature for talking points, I suppose one misses a lot of important information.
