New Online Scam

A friend of mine had her yahoo account stolen and the hacker sent me a website address (through her yahoo account) that didn't match the website on the screen. The screen was a log in screen for yahoo but the URL (address) at the top was different. Don't be taken in by being offered to look at pictures that you have to log into a yahoo account because the URL at the top is not Yahoo and the hackers are just trying to steal your username and password.

I posted this in General but I thought I would share it with you tech types.

Yea just as a email address can be spoofed a website can too. Looking at the source IP sometimes is the only tell tale if the spoofer has done a very good job. But with a incorrect url at least that spoofer did a poor job and was easily seen through.

Take a look at the source IP if you still have it and see where it leads back to.
