I'm with you WiLdAtHeArT. I hate the money involved in pro-sports; it's absurd that people get paid that much to essentially just play a game. And the thing is, there are thousands of people whose livelihood depended on the NHL season. It's all just so selfish.

I agree with you too Brutus, provided there is a season next year.

However foolish the PA's stance may seem, I think we should also keep in mind that the owners are equally to blame for this mess. This has been the scenario for the past 10 years:
--Rich owner tries to lure marquee player from poorer team with more $$$.
--Poorer team attempts to match.
--Next player says, "My stats are the same as that first guy's stats. Sign me for more $$$." His team doesn't.
--Another rich team says, "We'll sign you for more $$$." And player is lured away.

We need to keep in mind that the bottom line is that these 30 owners have never worked together businesswise. Only one team can hoist the cup at the end of the year (and profit from the extra income associate with hoisting the cup), so it has always been in the best interest of each owner (or owner's GM) to outdo all the other owners by luring and keeping marquee players with more $$$.

But in the end, the amount of money they make is ridiculous anyway. I need to find a nice junior team to watch.

I really miss hockey. I do think that the NHL is making a big mistake with an extended lock-out because, although I love hockey, most other people I know don't care that much about it. They should be finding ways to extend their fan base right now instead of isolating it. The players should know that if the owners don't think they will make loads of money, they aren't going to give in. :(

Right, so don't blame the PA, no why should we? They shouldn't need to have a salary limit, I mean the NFL does and the big NFL stars they don't really make much, do they?

No but seriously, it wasn't the PA's fault that the players were being payed lots of money before, that is true. But it is their fault that they can't agree to the new rules or regulations or whatever you want to call them.
